Where have you been all my life!. What can I say, this Huevos Ranchero was the best I have ever had! All this goodness is layered with two crispy tortillas for a great crunch, smothered with black beans, enchilada red cream sauce, perfectly poached eggs, pulled rotisserie chicken and topped with cotija cheese, fresh cilantro and chopped tomatoes! I washed it down with a Cali-Mary. To die for!

Nice Afternoon. My husband and I stopped in to Mexicali early afternoon on a Friday. We waited a bit to be served, but once we received our cadillac margaritas, we knew we were in a great spot. The extra spicy habanero salsa was great (but what’s with the extra $0.75 for it?) We had the lobster tacos which were decent (apparently Rachel Ray’s favorite dish– maybe she wasn’t quite on her game that day), and the blue crab and shrimp quesadilla which had more heavy cheese than crab or shrimp. The best part of the afternoon was meeting a couple of the regulars at the bar, who were very interesting and informative. We especially enjoyed talking with Alfonzo, a regular who received his beer and app without even having to order. The bartenders were attentive– and we appreciated their help in finding something fun to do that evening. All in all it was a very nice afternoon and we will certainly come back for another round at Mexicali.

Good. Food is pretty bland, expecially for the price, but it’s tasty enough. Wait staff is friendly and quick; they work hard to make it right if anythigs wrong. Decent place for a date/ Pre game bar night type thing. Not the best, but by no means bad.

Eat before you come here. I repeat, do not come here for the food unless you don’t care about quality. As a bar, it’s alright but not much room and an awkward layout does not help for social gatherings. If there are 4 or less in your group, it’s doable.

I love mexicali. I frequent mexicali, they have a very large menu of unique dishes and flavorful healthy choices. This is definitely more of a fusion mexican restaurant, so don’t go expecting authentic mexican, but they have some excellent creative combinations, definitely some of the best fusion food you will get for the price. The place is definitely dark, and can be loud, so I recommend going early in the evening if you want a quiet dinner.
