Plethora of coffee. This place is within walking distance of my boyfriend’s and one of our favorite morning coffee shops. They have so many different brews that even the most picky coffee connoisseur will find a coffee that suits them. An added bonus is that their breakfast sandwiches and burritos are exceptional and not over priced.

I went on a Sunday morning. The place has that vibe of Venice back when I lived here. Half the fun was people-watching; it brought back memories. I ordered a good breakfast burrito and an excellent double capuccino. In fact, it was perfect.

Git yet butt to Groundworks. Truly, Venice is blessed. The ocean as a front yard, (comparatively) fresh air, bizarre (but friendly) freaks to gawk at everywhere you look, ability to bike almost anywhere you want to go in the area, art, culture, diversity, and an active and inclusive community. And most importantly, the single best coffeehouse in all of Los Angeles county. This is no exaggeration and I make this declamation without reservation. There may be a better cuppa somewhere – Istanbul, Peru, Seattle, Paris – but I’ve never found it. I don’t know what they do to make it so special, but damn, it’s something fine. And their teas and chai… Ooh baby, those dirty soy chai lattes… so dirrty.Forget Starbucks – Groundworks is in another league altogether (and cheaper too). I haven’t been to the other Groundworks shops in the city – I hear others have a full-scale bakery. This one on Rose has just a small offering of site-baked scones, muffins, bagels, etc. but has always served me just fine.Just be patient, polite and considerate when you go (stay off your cell phone!), otherwise you may find yourself either ignored or unceremoniously booted.
