Tasty NoodlesSmall, clean and quiet. Had the Teochew Mie (savory noodles with bar-b-que pork and shreded chicken, which was quite good. Also the fresh lime soda was refreshing.

I’m a first timer with Indonesian cuisine. A bunch of us went to Ramayani, a very popular Indonesian restaurant in LA. It is owned by an old Indonesian couple (they were absolutely adorable) and perhaps run by their whole family. Known to have a better range of non vegetarian food and day specials, we ended up ordering: Corn fritters – Frekadel JagungCah Kangkung – Veg. Bakmi Rice Noodles – Veg. The corn fritters were pretty basic – just a tad bit oily, but they came with a really delicious dip. It was fun to eat these (American corn bhajiyas :P) Cah Kangkung was a tossed green beans dish. It was sort of raw and salad like, but quite nice to eat with the Noodles. We didn’t end up ordering a gravy to go with our Bakmi Rice Noodles. But the combination of the Kangkung with the Noodles was yummy. It was a pretty large portion for two people, so the left overs was taken home in a take away box. The others had the dish of the day (can’t remember what it’s called). It was a non vegetarian egg based dish with rice and prawn fritters and a few other things on the side. We ordered 3 of those – mild and spicy variants and everybody absolutely loved it. Again, almost half the portion had to be parcelled. Food – 3/5Ambiance – 3/5Service – 3/5Value for Money – 2.5/5 From the point of view of a vegetarian, Ramayani isn’t the best option because it lacks variety in vegetarian food. But as far as non vegetarians are concerned, it is like a 5/5. Go for it – Nobody was disappointed 🙂 PS: Sometimes it totally slips your mind to get pictures of your food.

Delicious Indonesian Food. I am a big fan of this place. For four years, every time I visited Los Angeles, I made sure I came here. I haven’t tried anything here I didn’t like. My favorite? Try the Otak Otak (fish cakes wrapped in banana leaves), TAHU TELOR (a tofu cake appetizer), CAH KANGKUNG (Hawaiian watercress sauteed with chilis and garlic), SAMBAL GORENG TAHU BUNCIS (string beans and tofu in coconut milk – my absolute favorite), and DENDENG BELADO (Indonesian beef jerky – very savory).

Great food with really friendly and efficient service. Try the nasi goreng dinner special with satay. Kind of hidden location, but a great find!!
