Skirt Steak!!! Is the dish I ordered and is the best skirt steak I’ve had by far.Had a groupon I purchased a few weeks prior so decided to use it for lunch. Best decision I made as far as lunch goes this day because all was excellent. Our server William was cool, courteous and helped us with everything providing top notch service. The meals were delicious as well as brought to the table at a fast pace. The skirt steak literally melts in your mouth and has tons of flavor. Not to mention, checking in on Yelp gives you a free appetizer up to $7. With this, I tried the empanadas that I’d most definitely come back for as far as appetizers go.Delicious meals involving steaks and awesome service…what more could I have asked for. Missing components from delivery. I ordered the Corderito to be delivered to my hotel room. The lamb was tasty, but it did not come with the mashed potatoes and grilled zucchini listed on the menu. Bread was included (which I didn’t anticipate), but it didn’t include butter. #deliveryfail

Gaucho Culinary Wine Journey. I was invited to Gaucho Grill in what is fast becoming a very arty and trendy Downtown Long Beach, CA. We were there to enjoy the first of their new food and wine pairings which will be every other Thursday beginning in February 2014. Although I am familiar with Gaucho and Argentine cuisine, I must admit, I was very pleasantly surprised and wowed by several factors. First and foremost the absolutely beautiful and creative way with which the Chef Alberto Gomez, thought out each dish perfectly with the wine it was paired with. Chef Gomez is a very reputable Chef that left one of the top Italian Kitchens in Brentwood/Beverly Hills to come to this beautiful location in Long Beach and I expected good things, but the delicate details of every flavor in combination with the wines paired with each dish was deeply thought out.I was also very impressed by James our waiter and Gonzalo the manager on duty. Both were genuinely thoughtful and had real customer care, which I think is much more than having customer service. The rustic and chic atmosphere of this location combined with the really lovely mix of Argentine and Latin music was very pleasing. The 5 Course Meal & Wine PairingEnsalada Campestre: A unique take on the traditional Caprese salad, with Fresh Burrata cheese, cherry tomatoes, arugula and basil. It was topped with crunchy parmesan cheese! It was fresh and refreshing, crispy where it needed to be and creamy and rich where it was required. It was lovely! Paired with Sonoma Cutrer Chardonnay from Sonoma, CA. The wine was fruity and full with an exquisite bouquet that complimented the salad perfectly. Lentil Soup: A rich lentil soup, hearty and warm. With several notes of uniqueness, eggplant croutons and chorizo colorado. It was very much the way I am used to Lentil soup in Spain, and Italy but with a very appealing twist. Paired with La Esquina, Malbec, Mendoza, Argentina. This wine seemed to have very little body when I first tried it, but there is a reason why I am not the Chef. Once I had the soup in my mouth the wine became alive! It was rich, flavorful and robust! Surprised me very much…bravo to the Chef! Veal Ravioli: I don’t care for Veal, so this was a difficult dish to review, but I have to say that the ravioli was glazed in a rich and delicate sauce with peas and pancetta that was exquisite. And the ravioli itself was well prepared and beautifully presented. Paired with Clos De Los 7, Blend, Mendoza, Argentina, this wine was unique and had a distinguished aroma all on its own. It was rich and very much what I expected from a truly creative Argentine wine. It was delicious and perfectly paired with the pasta. Entrana Chimichurri: Prime marbled Angus skirt steak with Gaucho’s signature Chimichurri sauce! It was served with the most perfectly crunchy on the outside and deliciously soft on the inside potatoes I’ve had maybe ever. And although this may seem ridiculous what the Chef did with the roasted tomato on the side of the dish left everyone at our table wanting MORE! That tomato was ART! Everything was right with this dish. Paired with Luigi Bosca, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mendoza, Argentina, the wine could not of been more perfect for the smoky, garlic and lovely flavors of the course. Panqueque con Dulce de Leche: If dessert had not of been the famous Argentine Dulce de Leche I don’t think there was a bit of room for it, but it was the famed Dulce de Leche of Argentina, made by the extremely talented Chef at Gaucho Grill Long Beach! Wow delicious, delicious!! Paired with homemade white Sangria. All of the servings were beyond generous, especially for a five course meal! The pairings will also host live Argentine Tango dancers!Gaucho Grill’s food and wine pairing, was creative and well thought out and presented; it was really a fine culinary experience. I am looking forward to returning for some of the dishes on their daily menu too.It was a lovely evening!

The limited menu choice is good. The shrimps a little small but the filet was excellent with spinach & roast spuds. The pancake was great.
