I was great today to be in Long Beach and be able to catch up with an old friend I’ve not seen in years hours before he flew home to the Netherlands. So to say that we didn’t want to be hurried over lunch would be a real understatement. So it was a pleasure to find that the staff were very friendly, and very patient while we delayed ordering our lunch. When we did, we both ordered the Crab Cakes, which were fresh and perfectly cook. Paired with a very nice New Zealand Sav Blanc, and a well shaded alfresco setting, Gladstone’s was the ideal choice for a long lunch.

The food was extremely unpleasant. Long Beach has a ton of better options.

Horrible Food. It was the worst dining experience in Long Beach. The calamari appetizer was disguised with potato chips. The angel hair pasta with bay scallops was like eating pasta in cream of chicken soup. The food was really pricey for a mediocre restaurant. Even the drinks were not up to standard. Won’t go there again.

Bad Food. This use to be cool beach place but now it just sucks. The food is very very bad!

Great Location and View, Mediocre Food. The view is great here. The food, unfortunately is pretty mediocre. Each time I have been here the fish has been overcooked or dry. I’ve never eaten anyhting memorable. They make a really good bloody mary though.

Not bad, good place for a family gathering. Mai Tai was pretty good, bones pulled out of the ribs but tasted over cooked. Friendly service. When we are back in SoCal I won’t be hankerin for it.
