Upscale northern Italy cuisine in the heart of Long Beach. Stylish restuarant, well prepared menu, good wine list, attentive service and excellent food.

This I not an in house review!!!!! Yes my last name is Cotta just like the Chef, no relation at least that I know of. I come to Long Beach about three times a year and this is my favorite restaurant without a doubt. The service is top notch, the food is amazing, the best itallian I have ever had. The wine selection is vast, and for quality food the prices are reasonable. I have eaten at the Madison, 555, and Parker’s Lighthouse, which are all good. Without a doubt L’Opera beats them all hands down!!!!!!!

Place This On Your List of Dining While in Downtown Long Beach. My wife was on business in Long Beach, and extended our stay into the weekend. Having lived in Long Beach before in the 80’s, the downtown area has gone through a dramatic change, that wants you to stay and spend your money. The city leaders deserve a lot of credit in making the downtown and shorline area what it is today. Pine ave is filled with all kinds of restaurants to what ever your hear desires. L’Opera was a short walk from our hotel, and decided to make an early reservation since our departure was early the following day. The atmosphere when you first walk in is very nice, and the greeting and service is first rate. We ordered champaign to start as a celebration to an anniversary. Our apps were the special Carpaccio not on the regular menu and a VELLUTATAShaved Green Apple, Fennel, Celery, Tarragon, Spinach & Fresh Strawberries, Tossed in an Apple Juice Reduction & Shallot Vinaigrette DressingFlavors of both were wonderful!EntreesFETTUCCINE ALLA CHECCAHomemade Flat Noodles, Sauted with Fresh Chopped Tomatoes, Basil & Garlic SauceandPan seared Halibut, with roasted tomatoes, beans, and onion, along with mashed potatoes. We were speechless!DesertChocolate Covered Strawberries with REAL whip cream and espresso.YES…enjoy!

Nice atmosphere. Great food, wonderful selection on the menu and a great wine list. We spent about $100 per person, not bad for dinner, wine, dessert and a tip. Wait staff took great care of our group.

Fantastic food. I was there last night and had their famous (and delicious) tri tip ravioli. The ambience is sophisticated with a bonus room downstairs that is actually underneath the pine street . Very cool. Our waiter left much to desire in terms of service , with cheese jokes and a little bit of an abrupt demeanor. Most likely not from the west coast….My salad was average, nothing more than a ceasar salad with a fancy description on the menu.

Good upscale Italian. This place has a a bit of a snooty vibe that some find offputting. But their food is very good and their wine list is wonderful. I have dined here more than a dozen time and have had consistently good meals. It is not inexpensive though and certainly not the place you stroll in with shorts and flip flops on.
