The theme here is awesome. However both my husbands and my meal left much to be desired. The pork belly buns were almost pure fat and the short ribs were an exceptionally small dry portion for the price. Come for the ambiance not the food.
Service good. People good. Bar has amazing whiskey selection. However food missed the mark. The day we went no regular iced tea just peach flavored tea – awful – you can taste the artificial flavoring power. If they had infused black tea with fresh peaches, now that might have been good. Monte Cristo – the whole sandwich is dipped in heavy batter and fried – the batter and frying really took away from what could have been a good sandwich not too mention it had to be over 1000 calories. Chicken and waffles – not the best I have had – for me it was really dry.We will try once more since finding new favorites on the menu is sometimes a process of a couple of meals.
The school theme is unique, it isn’t weird. After a meal, you’ll only want to focus on the food anyway, as the kitchen here offers plenty of options, all very tasty. The coolest thing about this place is the bar, as it has one of the largest collections of whiskeys available in the state. Come here for lunch, or just to sample a bunch of whiskey, but definitely come here.
I love the decor in this restaurant, it’s a total throwback to my grade school days. The food isn’t as great as the ambiance, but it still holds its’ own. In addition to their awesome school-like atmosphere, they have over 900 types of whiskey and a great looking cocktail list. I’m looking forward to returning during a happy hour or late night service.
Schoolhouse rockin at the school house kitchen. This place is really cool. The decor will send you back to your elementary school days, featuring the same chairs, maps, and standardized test bubble that haunted your youth. Good thing they have the largest selection of whiskey in Colorado! I recommend the blackened salmon sandwich to soak up some of that booze 🙂
Fun neighborhood (Olde Town Arvada)…but School House’s kitchen needs to catch up with its liquor offerings and its interior design team. I’m hoping this is just a new kitchen staff working out the kinks, because the atmosphere is GREAT. Same owner is doing a wonderful job down the street at Scrumptious.
