The ambiance was great. There was live music playing in the next room that allowed for great background, but was quiet enough to have an easy conversation. The food was incredible. Best lamb dish I have had. Highly recommend.
Aspen. Italian. Let’s go.Star 1: How was the service and atmosphere? It’s Aspen, so you’d best believe you’re dealing with the best. In this case? We were, in both service and atmosphere. Star Granted.Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost?Again, it’s Aspen, which explains why I paid $22.50 pre-tax for an average portion of Spaghettini. Even so, that’s $10 less than what I paid at nearby Rustique, so I’ll let it slide here. Star Granted.Stars 3 and 4: How was the food?Yum. Spaghettini is hard to mess up, but it’s also equally as difficult to really get right. You can tell that L’hostaria makes their pasta from scratch, and that’s doing it right without question. For this portion, the richness was perfect as well, and I left satisfied while not overly stuffed. Wonderful and unique. Dual Stars Granted.Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could?I really, really want to say yes, but alas, there was one issue. The menu has some brilliant options, but it’s a bit on the small side. Italian is a fantastically broad cuisine, and yet L’hostaria tends to restrict itself to some of the pastas. Branch out a bit! Expand! No Star Granted.
Eh. Food is only ok. Service is average for aspen (not so good). Small group o us, eating early, they didn’t have the specials they had described, they forgot desserts, and so on.
