To be perfectly honest, Boulder generally isn’t my speed. The bars and breweries up north are generally too rowdy, too disorganized, and too full of college students to keep me interested. BRU, however, stands apart from its fellow Boulderites. It doesn’t look like much from the front, but once you get inside, you’ll find a trendy, rustic atmosphere. It wasn’t terribly busy when I went, but it’s the not the type of place that seems like it’s ever truly chaotic. The staff is FANTASTIC (I developed a soul bond with my waitress over makeup) the beer is delicious, and the food is amazing. The portion sizes are a little small, and everything is a little bit pricier than I would normally go for, but I’ll happily pay more for less if what I’m getting is high quality.

Oh man, Bru is one of those hidden gems that once you find out about, you hate that you didn’t know about it earlier. Their food is fantastic and each beer that I had was amazing. The staff is very knowledgeable. We sat a table one time with chalkboard paint on it, so you can doodle while you wait for your food. One of the coolest thing about Bru is their dessert. I ordered an ice-cream sandwich made with repurposed grain from the beer that they brew in-house. Gave the dessert a really great little extra something that I haven’t really found elsewhere.

I really liked this place. A neat little brewpub with a great vibe. Our server, Drew, was also very nice. Everything we tried was good: the saison and stout were both very tasty, we also sampled several small plates and they were all quite good. I loved the curried cauliflower. If I lived in Boulder I would certainly go back and definitely recommend Bru to others.
