The food is good but it’s not great. The service is friendly. I almost feel bad not giving it a better rating but for the prices you’d expect more. Gurkhas is RIGHT right nearby and sooo much better, trust me!

Pay no attention to the whiny reviewer who thinks everything should be ar Burger King prices. Anyone familiar with the best restaurants in Boulder will know that Blue ranks with the best, but without pretensions. Everything on the menu is delicious. For lunch, the salads are great and the burgers rank among the best. For dinner, pastas, fish, chicken, tenderloin. It may sound odd, but try the meatloafwonderful and unlike any you’ve had.

Great for a business lunch or a romantic dinner. A truly delightful neighborhood restaurant unassumingly tucked into a suburban strip mall, serving what I like to call ‘high-class comfort food’, Cafe Blue has been a favorite lunch place since the day it opened about five years ago. Dinners are great, too, but for a real treat keep your eyes open for one of their occasional wine dinners, when co-owners Kevin and Leslie Middleton (he’s the chef and she presides out front) really pull out all the stops. Tip: it’s hard to go wrong, but the menu itself is largely static, so pay particular attention to Kevin’s daily specials, which showcase his creativity and the freshest of ingredients. Leslie’s background in the wine business shows to advantage in a wine list that is quirky, fun and affordable.Menu favorites: Try the Firecracker Shrimp appetizer; the New England Clam Chowder (daily, along with French Onion Soup) or the soup of the day; the mussels appetizer is wonderful and a meal in itself. Cafe Blue has the best burgers in town and a terrific blackened Ahi tuna sandwich; the meatloaf and Cincinatti chili are popular. Kevin has a particularly affinity for seafood entrees, and the side dishes are noteworthy: homemade mac and cheese, shoestring fries, gorgonzola mashers, garden salad and Ceasar salad are all very good.

This is one of those wonderful secrets. Who’d think that an excellent restaurant would be in this old outdoor mall in btween a dry cleaner and a daycare center? I recommend the pesto chicken sandwich for lunch and the firecracker shrimp anytime. Dinner you really can’t go wrong with any of the main courses. Check Kevin’s specials. He’s really good with the fish dishes.
