About
Elephant Hut is named after a herd of elephants that King Mongkut of Thailand offered to President Lincoln during the Civil War. The restaurant presents a modern but authentic approach to royal Thai cuisine, served in an art gallery of paintings done by skilled Thai elephants. The menu is inspired by culinary wisdom found along Thailands Floating Markets, rivers and canals, where farmers and merchants sell produce and prepare foods from small wooden boats. The dishes are prepared with royal, street and boat recipes dating back to 18th century Bangkok. Picture an abundant farmer's market filled with home-made foods, vibrant flowers, and exotic fruits," said chef and owner Pi Kasemsant, who is a descendant of King Mongkut of the musical "The King and I" and the film "Anna and The King."
