My husband and I hadn’t been to the Boulder location for awhile, but yesterday we met friends for lunch there. It’s always been one of our favorites since our sons were small more than 30 years ago. It’s a quaint place, fairly small and cramped, with tons of atmosphere. And nearly always a wait list because it’s worth waiting for. We just love it. Our food was great, as usual. I had been to Charleston and Savannah a couple of weeks ago, taking advantage of local cuisine. The collard greens here are better than any I’d had in either place. We’ll always return to this place. But don’t look for diet-friendly dishes here (usually).

All the egg dishes are delicious, grits are standard, need a little salt and butter, maybe a splash of hot sauce. The sausage gravy and biscuits are just dang rich and delicious. The caf au lait or coffee with chicory used to be sour and too strong but it’s perfectly rich and smooth now. They’ve definitely stepped it up. The creamed spinach could use a little more seasoning other than that I can’t complain. Had a really good sandwich special one day with heirloom tomatoes that were definitely heirloom tomatoes. I was happy.
