Southern Maid donuts are probably the best I’ve had in CO Springs. They’re even better than most I’ve had in other bigger cities. While they’re not as like & flaky as Stan’s in Santa Clara, they’re definitely better than any store bought or Dunkin Donuts ones.I would definitely recommend the Apple Fritters & the Long Johns. They’re an upcharge over the regular ones, but they’re definitely worth it!
We are from TX and Southern Maid was one of the best there so naturally I was excited to see one here in the Springs! But I was very disappointed at the first bite of my chocolate donut, it was not light and flaky it was dense almost over cooked and the chocolate tasted like Nutella? The glazed was a little better but not enough to make me want to go back. On a positive note the owner seemed very sweet and offered to refill our coffee. And the coffee was good.
