Great Place!. My wife, 22 year old son and I tried Satchel’s last night, and it was very, very, good. Andrew, the owner, greeted us at the door. The owner and his staff work very hard to ensure that you have a great experience, and the food was wonderful. We eat out a lot and I’ve learned that you have to appreciate a place for what it is, not what you were expecting, and Satchel’s delivers great food and wine in a casual, upscale, lively space. When we arrived, the restaurant had a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that picked up over time as regulars from the neighborhood came in. The wine was reasonably priced, the quality of our meals was impeccable, the food prices were fair, and service was excellent. By the time we left, the restaurant was very busy, and the servers were hustling to make sure everyone was happy… What more can you ask for? This place has a great vibe, we will return often! As an aside, I do not understand the couple of negative reviews posted about this place. Given our experience, I think that the owner would immediately address any problems if they had been brought to his attention.
Disappointing!. One of the most disappointing meals (and very expensive) we’ve had in a long time. From salads to a burned, rock hard bread pudding that shouldn’t have been served to begin with. Wine pours are extremely small, chicken undercooked….really nothing positive about this meal except that the location would be great if the food was up to par.
Impressive new chef. I chose potato gnocchi and mahi mahi and both were exceedingly good – the mahi mahi contains distinct flavors, and my gnocchi was deep in flavor with a perfect texture. I’ll consider frequenting and recommending Satchel’s once they get new chairs. Bring an orthopedic back pillow.
Slightly disappointing…. Satchel’s on Sixth was a little disappointing…a little too bland for me. But at least they recognized their faults and gave us 10% off. thesizzlingcupcake.com
Service?. Made a reservation for 7 on a Saturday. Showed up on time, to a half-full house. We were seated promptly and then waited ten minutes. No water. No server. Plenty of time to observe the other tables craning their necks — with menus, with empty plates, with empty glasses — in hope of flagging down a waiter. In a tiny restaurant. We walked out and won’t be back. Unbelievable.
Fun. This quirky little place is always an adventure. Sure, it’s a bit pricey, but the atmosphere is unique and the food is always interesting.
