Great fiid! The burgers and fries are amazing!!
I REALLY ENJOY THE FOOD & Folks. I wonder what axe the above writer has to grind. I like this place and go at least once a month. There are lots of sandwich shops in Durango. I rate this right up there with the best. I have yet to see a $10 sandwich on the menu. Was that person talking about the same place?I have two favorites at Bart’s and those are Rueben on rye and hot dog grilled with fresh chopped onions and tomatoes. A side of coleslaw. I think comes to 5 bucks.
Don’t let Bart be lazy when making your sandwiches. Update May, 2013—-Since I wrote this review significant changes have taken place and are worthy of comment. First of all, Bart’s has moved to 1220 Carbon Junction Rd, Durango, CO. It is within a gas station, but that shouldn’t deter you from going in or ordering from their drive thru. It’s legit.Since the initial review and Bart’s move I have returned multiple times. I was pleasantly surprised with the additions of hamburgers and fries. Bart’s versions are no nonsense, classic burgers with the traditional fixings and some you will likely find in southwestern cuisine, too. The fries seem straightforward, cut Idaho Russets and not all the seasoned and coated fries that tend to dominate the market. How is the combo? In a word: excellent. bart’s really captures the essence of a great burger and fries. I get mine with bacon, cheese, tomato, lettuce, pickle, onion, mustard, mayo, and ketchup. The food is quite good. It takes about 5-10 minutes to fulfill an order, but it is worth the wait. Everything is prepared to order. That means when you get your hot sandwiches or fries that they are just out of the oven, press or fryer. It makes a huge difference. The current staff are like the last when I had first reviewed Bart’s: they are courteous, friendly, and prompt in their preparation of your food. Great attention to details like condiments, napkins, straws, and the quality of product going out the door/window. It’s a class act example of great customer service.I have also stopped seeing Bart and ordering the deli sandwiches there, too. I do not know how their quality has fared, but I imagine they are delicious as always. The place does use quality product like Boar’s Head.So folks, this is me admitting that the current Bart’s is not like I portrayed it in my initial review. I have seen some major steps in the right direction and it really shows. Original Review—-Way overpriced for what you get. a $10 sandwich isn’t worth the cash, especially if Bart is working the kitchen. He gets lazy and will try to talk you into a different meat choice because he doesn;t want to shave the meat you want. This is a chronic problem. I used to work nearby and went there often only to find that I was rarely getting what I came in for.Is that what you want in your $10 sandwich?
