True the Ore House last night, we had to wait to be seated for almost 5 minutes because the host was nowhere to be found. Finally a waitress came up and sat us somewhere… Our server was friendly but throughout the night didn’t really check up on us, we ordered the 16oz steak for two to be prepared medium well, and after 30 minutes they brought it to us medium-rare… You’d think a place that specializes in steaks would know how to cook one, or at least temp the meat right. Again, our waiter seemed busy, a different waitress noticed we had been finished with our plates and cleared them before SHE brought us coffee, upon finishing the coffee, our waiter finally came to check up on us.What I ate of the steal was pretty good, nothing extraordinary though, next time I’ll get lobster or crab.
Best Steakhouse in Durango. We had a wonderful evening at the Ore House. The food was fantastic, especially the aged ribeye. It seems like most meat doesn’t have much flavor, but the meat at Ore House is phenomenal. Every single drink and food item was exceptional. And every staff person made sure that we had an exceptional experience. The ambiance is rustic and intimate. If you’re looking for one of the best restaurants in Durango, you’ve got to try the Ore House.
Ask for Tim to be your server…he will insure a dining experience that exceeds your expectations!. Road tripping across country as we were, my boyfriend and I were anxious for a substantially, delicious dinner and a warm sanctuary from the cold of Colorado. We were actually planning to dine at Randy’s, but upon seeing a rather blue haired crowd populating that restaurant, we promptly wandered across the street into the Ore House. Oh what a gold mine! The warm, rustic environment was a perfect retreat. Great ambience… I loved the soundtrack of acoustic music playing in the background. It’s all the music you love but haven’t heard in so long. Of course, it is the food that will bring you back with a variety of steaks to suit any taste. We opted to share our food selections this evening and the healthy portions served up at the Ore House were perfectly suited to this decision. The arugula and spinach salad was a delightful start with balanced flavors and more than enough for two. We followed with a T-Bone steak accompanied by 2 sides: the broccolini and the sweet corn. Our steak was undercooked, so while Tim had the chef fire it up to medium as ordered, we took great pleasure with the sides, which were extremely satiating. The multigrain sourdough bread was especially nice dipped in the broccolini’s roasted garlic butter. When our steak was returned to the table, I noticed it looked overdone this time, appearing more well than done to medium. We were enjoying ourselves so thoroughly however, I decided to overlook it. Tim, our waiter was perfectly attentive and noticed the situation, promptly offering to have a new steak prepared to order. I have to say I was extremely pleased by this unsolicited gesture and while it is on point, it is unfortunate this does not happen more often during a dining experience. The manager served our perfectly prepared medium steak and provided a gracious discount on the bill for the error with our first order. The Ore House did a tremendous job with turning a common error into an outstanding first impression…well done!
This is officially the best restaurant I have ever been to! The menu is great! The food is amazing! Atmosphere A+ !!
