Pretty average Mexican fare in Estes. They do have good service and are really good about staying open to feed those running to the edge of not getting fed. They do eventually lock the doors though – they have to leave eventually.
Estes Park shuts down around 9:00pm. We learned this during our first visit to the area. Trying to find a late dinner was a challenge when we found Casa Grande, an oasis with salsa. We apologetically brought our party of eight into the restaurant at 8:50pm and they didn’t make us feel like we preventing them from getting home. They even seated other parties after we had received our food. The service was excellent and the food was fantastic. The portions were generous and in particular the street tacos are worth your time. I had a cup of the chicken tortilla soup and it was punched up by adding a few spoonfuls of salsa. To me it needs some heat for maximum enjoyment. The outside seating is perfect if the weather is nice.
I will start with my kids….First spending almost $7 a plate for half of a quesadilla , terrible rice and average beans was quite frustrating. Then receiving the bill and realizing that a milk was $3.50! So for two kids meals for crappy food the total was over $20!!Now for myself and my wife….We both ordered salads. I had the chicken fajita salad for almost $13. That’s a few rubbery strips of chicken, roman lettuce, and guacamole…Just terrible. For my wife, she had the taco salad for about $11 which the beef had very little flavor. For a lunch of sub par food with two kids meals, two salads, two milks, a soda, tea, plus tip…. the total was over $60!!The most expensive below average Mexican food I have ever eaten….
Gross! Worst Mexican food ever. My husband and I had nachos and my daughter had chicken nuggets. They were both inetible. How do you mess up nachos??? I would rate taco bell over this any day
Just plain soggy grossness TERRIBLE. My boyfriend were up in Estes today, 7/31/11 and thought we’d stop in for an early dinner. It was a less than pleasurable experience. The service seemed cheap and less than caring of quality. The only time the wait staff seemed to take notice of us was when we were paying the check and our waiter hoovered over us, a little privacy please The salsa seemed to be little more than watered down tomato paste with some spice thrown in. I ordered the Miguel quesadilla, when I got my plate the tortilla on the qusadilla was soggy from all of the fat dripping out from the inside, I understand that in restaurants it is important to get food out to the tab;es quickly but I would rather not have my food look like a pile of dog vomit. When I attempted to eat it, it was difficult to do with out having the very soggy food drip all over me. The black beans also seemed to be little more than (undrained) canned beans heated in a microwave. Needless to say I will NOT be eating here again. I have had better food from taco stand on the street. Utterly terrible.
Eh, ok. The green salad & soup were actually very good. The Mexican food is pretty pricey & not very good. The margaritas tasted kinda strange.
