Came to the Stanley for lunch with my husband on a day trip from Denver. After waiting for a few minutes for a table we were seated. Lots of tables, just no one there to note when someone came up. We had the artichoke dip as a starter and frankly, Make it a pass. Served cold with pita bread that was so hard and chewy we had to ask for crackers to eat it. The waitress informed us this was because it was deep fried, but either way I wouldn’t personally recommend. Sandwiches were good…Chicken sandwich and a steak sandwich. However our waitress, Bobbi, was short and inattentive. Off day?The hotel is pretty, as to be expected. Maybe try the other restaurants on property.

Cascades is probably the my overall favorite dinner spot in Estes. Although it is in the Stanley Hotel, I don’t think I would consider this place a family friendly restaurant (which is another reason why I LOVE it. Kids ruin everything.) They have a more focused menu with some local ingredients elevated to a more fine dining quality. My favorite dinner I’ve had at Cascades was when my wife and I only ordered appetizers. We got a huge assortment of small plates and still spent roughly the same as ordering entrees. The asparagus and the bison meatballs were my favorites but the foie gras was really tasty too. As a whiskey fan I can confidently say that Cascades has an extensive collection of whiskey that is unmatched in Estes.
