Yesterday: Breakfast – Traditional country breakfast and homemade oatmeal. Great taste and generous portions. Lunch – meatloaf dinner and added deviled eggs. Scrumptious and generous portions. Today: Veggie quiche, liver & onions with beef barley soup. Wonderful flavors. Yes…tried a multiple pies and all delicious! Will be coming back next trip.
Great breakfast spot and the pies are wonderful. The wait staff seemed to be mostly young women from Eastern Europe who were working/traveling in the USA. Donata, our waitress, was a real pleasure and very efficient and attentive.
This place is amazing! Fresh food, made from scratch – biscuits and gravy with actual scratch biscuits and homemade gravy! The pie was awesome and the selection was huge – 16 different types of pie when we were there at lunchtime. Sometimes they do sell out, it’s very popular I’m told. Great food, friendly service, and a fun diner atmosphere. We will definitely go here again!
Worst service I have ever received. Our waitress/manager left the building after putting in our order and we were forgotten. It was not a busy time of day and five waitresses stood about twenty feet from is talking and paying absolutely no attention to us. My husband actually went to the beverage bar to refill his own cup of coffee. After almost an hour of waiting (which seems like a lot longer when you have a two year old and infant), we asked a waitress when our food would be ready. Scrambling panic. Apparently it had just been sitting in the window and no one thought to run it since our server/manager was no longer there. We got our food, which was unspectacular. Our server returned as we were finishing up and tried to blame another server and only offered us a 20% discount for the ordeal. My husband fought for 50% and we ended up getting it free. We won’t be going back.
LOVE IT – Service was GREAT!. I read reviews before going here, but it seemed like the food was great by all accounts. I think based on my visit that they have worked out the service issues. My food was awesome. I had the Ruben and it was literally the best one I have EVER had. Thick corned beef and sweet/sour kraut – Awesome! My husband had the Club Sandwich and a half biscuits and gravy. Club was huge and had a lot of meat! Biscuits were homemade and so was the gravy – Yum! We had to take the pie with us, but it was delicious the next morning for breakfast. Truly a gem! Our waitress was attentive and really nice. She asked about where in Kansas we’re from and paid attention to all of her tables. She did mention they had a tough summer without enough help. Anyway- we will definitely be back! Thumbs up!
Worst Dining Experience Ever!. I ordered a tuna sandwich which was recommended by the waitress. When it arrived, it was the most unappetizing meal I have ever been served. I won’t sicken you with a description, but when I tried to order an alternate meal, the waitress ignored me. Maybe the pie is good at this restaurant but the sandwiches and service are disgusting!
Great food.. The food was very good but poor service. I ordered fruit with my quiche. She brought hash browns. My husband ordered cherry peach pie. She brought him strawberry rhubarb. He didn’t complain. I asked for fruit and she wasn’t pleasant. But I would try it again.
