Let me start by saying that I have never been treated so poorly in all my life! My children and mom visited this candy shop on one of our many visits into town (we have a family cabin in Estes). My poor mom accidentally broke a soda bottle with her purse. Yes she was at fault but most of their soda bottles are displayed along the bottom shelf around the store, so in my opinion it was an accident waiting to happen. My mom felt horrible and was so embarrassed. My mom tried apologizing over and over for the inconvenience. On multiple occasions we offered to clean up the spill. It was obvious that the man (maybe the owner) was very irritated and agitated, he wouldn’t even acknowledge my poor mom! He did acknowledge us however when my mom spent $60 and then proceeded to charge her for not one but two bottles of soda to replace the one that she had accidentally broken. I did let the gentleman know that I was not very happy with how he had chosen to handle the whole situation and that it was punishment enough the way he had treated her. He proceeded to tell me that it was her fault for not caring her purse in front of her and how did I expect him to sell broken glass! He obviously felt at liberty to tell me how he felt so I didn’t mince any words about telling him how I felt either. This was probably one of the most insensitive, heartless, and cold people that I have ever had the misfortune of meeting. I am a teacher and it sickens me that this man is operating a store that appeals to young children. It truly unnerved me with how belligerent and angry he was! In the future I will definitely take my business to the Estes Park Old Fashion Candy Store right down the street, they have been there for years so they must be doing something right!Thank you for taking the time to read my review, if I can spare one person from being treated the way we were then it will make it worthwhile!!!
Not so much a restaurant as it is a nostalgic candy and soda pop store. If they produce anything themselves, but profit, I would be highly surprised. If there are candies or sodas that you have not seen for years these guys probably have it (except Cup ‘O Gold unfortunately – they do have Valomilk though).Prices are at a premium. For instance Frostie Root Beer which goes for $0.98 in stop and robs I have been to lately were going for something like $2.50 if I remember correctly.Candies had a premium price as well. All told the prices are not bad for getting an item or two you have missed for decades. We usually come away with something.
Super fun!. This is more of a shop, rather than a restaurant, that provides a lot of different candy options. However…It’s a great place for the kiddos if you don’t mind a mega sugar rush and overload. They’ll want to get their hands on almost everything in here. Of course, you could always give them a ginger beer to make them not want to eat anymore!Cashier was very friendly, and their variety is incredible. They have their own brand of drinks, which I did not try. They have locations across the US, so you might stop by!
