Traveled to Fort Collins for business and was looking for a place close to the hotel- came up with Maza Kabob. I lived and worked in Dearborn for several years and was exposed to the best middle eastern food in the Americas. The ambiance of this place is very similar to what you would find there. Simple, plain decor, lots of tile, an order and sit type of service, fountain drink station. Its a spartan appearance. But the smells, oh the smells. As you wait for your food, you catch glimpses through the kitchen order window of Sayed, the owner, hustling back and forth in the kitchen. He moves systematically, no wasted effort as he multi tasks- cooking and then delivering food to his customers tables. Bagging the to-go orders, answering the phone, and all the while taking the time to smile and laugh with his customers. He has help, and it seems most of their job is to clear a pathway for Sayed as he whisks around the establishment. And the smells. Oh, Lord, the smells. The scents of herbs and spices wafting through the room as they cook. It’s exotic- like smelling candles with a blindfold. You can pick the scents you know out- garlic, fennel, clove, saffron, but there are others too, that you can’t quite pin down. And then its your turn! Sayed places a tray with a plate of Potato Bollani, Burrani, and fresh Naan in front of you. The Bollani resembles a sort of potato-pancake Quesadilla, stuffed with parsley and other herbs. After a quick dunk in some Afghani cucumber yogurt sauce it’s down the hatch. Now its on to the Burrani- a dish featuring cooked eggplant over rice, with middle eastern herbs and spices. It’s rich, and tangy, and well balanced with the savory side of the dish, drizzled with the same cucumber yogurt sauce. Before you know it, you’ve cleaned your plate and are mopping every last bit of goodness up with a piece of naan. If you’re looking for a no frills, no thrills, experience, where the food and the hospitality are the shining star, don’t miss this place. And come hungry.
Friendly and delicious. We enjoyed a well-prepared feast of shish kabobs, cilantro salad, cucumber sauce, and Jasmine rice, at Maza Kabobs.
Really good food with plenty of gluten free options. Owner is very friendly too
Exotic tastes in a strip mall parking lot. This is a Midtown gem. If you usually have lunch at a fast food place, skip eating one day (face it, it would do you good to eat only an apple for lunch once a week) and spend twice as much as your adult Happy Meal costs to get real food from a real restaurant next time.
Delicious. Hands down the tastiest food in fort collins. Flavor extravaganza! If you are looking for something different and want to be blown away, come to maza kabob. This place is great.
Maza Kabob is never a disappointment. The food is always fantastic.
Woo hoo!. As good as it gets. My staple for delicious food Afghani food and exceptional service. The owner, Sayed Sayied, is warm and hilarious. So wonderful to have some cultural diversity in Fort Collins. My favorite restaurant in town by far.
