Great patio outside, pleasant warm space inside. Attentive staff. The menu is clever with many, many tough decisions- what a pleasure that is. We had watermelon salad to start which was fresh and tasty and perfect. Then the Bolognese to follow. Yum. Both. Try this place.
Depends. The cheese plate was delicious, prima terra primitivo wine, delicious, 10 oz aged steak amazing, crispy skinned salmon was very bland with potato and Brussel sprouts. Kind of expensive to take home for my dog. Maybe I’ll try it again and order from a new menu…
Just….average. Took the family to dinner here- heard a lotta hype at work about it. Surprised it was so middle of the road. Restaurant was noisy, crowded, and wait staff wasn’t friendly/attentive at all. Had to ask repeatedly for water/drink refills, no assist with menu suggestions, and felt like they wanted us gone pronto as we were finishing main course. Portions were not large, food was okay but bland (how difficult is it to make some ravioli?), and prices are steep for what you get. Not a totally bad experience but not a good one either. With the dozens of choices we have in Old Town I wouldnt suggest a stop at Rare unless you want to spend $30 on a meal that is just so-so.
Disappointing. Four of us went out ready to have an experience and our server could care less. We asked what she recommended for appatizera and she basically read us the menu. My ENTREE of scallops (which was decent) had three; one friends chicken was burned (which they took off our bill); another friends’ had the bolognese which tasted like great beef stroganoff; and my other friend had pizza-which was ok. It has potential, I’ll try it maybe again.
Great Food but the total experience was a disappointment. This restaurant has gotten a lot of hype. The food, let me say was outstanding. the experience was awful. We had reservations and they were early as this was all that was available. We were OK with that. We arrived and the hostess just pointed at the bar and said go sit at a table in there. We were not seated. We could not sit in the dining room as it was not open. The waitress came and said that there was no dinner service as the kitchen wasn’t open. i asked why they take reservations for something that isn’t open. She couldn’t answer but was clearly annoyed we were even there. After a while we were allowed to order dinner. The food is good. There is no doubt about that. But while waiting for pour food a woman came over and asked if we would be leaving soon. We hadn’t even gotten out food yet. Later a man came by and asked if he could sit at our table as he had no where to sit. The place was over crowded by 6:30 and the waiting people were on top of us. The waitress acted as if she wished we would leave. She was not happy to have us int he bar. And we were not happy to have to sit inthe bar. Overall the place needs front of the house management. The staff is poorly trained and the service was awful. The reservation and then being sat in the bar was not acceptable. We will not be back.
Too Much Hype. I have to say the service was excellent but I just didn’t any WOW factor in our meals. Don’t get me wrong it was good but so are many other MUCH less places to eat in Ft Collins. The noise level was way to load so if you enjoy a conversation with that someone special I’d go elsewhere. Now the cost I found it to be ridiculously overpriced and portions where to say the least small. Would I go back probably not when Ft Collins offers so many other gems Down Town.
Long wait for our dinner, out of both our wine choice as well as a beer selection. waitress started the conversation with if you would like desert tell me now, they take an hour to prepare..pork was overdone, pizza was just ok, I will say the brussel sprouts were amazing but at this price point and with the meat hanging in the very visible aging room, the last thing that should be the highlight is the appetizer…. meh
