Modern Tex mex food with a huge selection of margaritas and tequila to suit any budget up to $395 a shot. It was very crowded for lunch for a weekday. My group was squeezed into s tight corner. Atmosphere is modern and pleasant. The floors were slick and the chairs were uncomfortably slick on them. We received carafes of water, 2 glasses short of our group size. I had to ask three times to get a glass. Even after I had been eating food and was choking it down. The chips and salsa were average or slightly below. There are two salsas available. Neither had any real character. I ordered green chili, a side pork tamale and a cheese and enchilada plate. The green chili was awful. The tortillas however that came with it were excellent. The pork tamale was hard as a rock, dry and the meat was shredded throughout the masa vs. in the center. The platter was a disappointment as well. Don’t expect any refried beans here. Only black beans. They were under cooked and had no flavor. The rice was also inedible and was plainer than uncle bens instant Spanish rice. The enchiladas were good, but had no sauce to add extra flavor. Cheese roll ups essentially. The rest of my group was either happy or rather unhappy with food taste. Looks like a great place to drink booze, not so much for eating Mexican unless you prefer the Tex mex fake stuff.
I don’t know what kind of Mexican these reviewers are used to eating but I think the food at the Rio is some of the best in Fort Collins. No, they haven’t paid me for this review. I grew up eating top notch Tex Mex in Texas. The tortillas are home made on premises and and I’ve only had close at the Mexican bakery here in town. Chips and salsa is very good, portions and prices are good for the quality. I don’t drink but they say the marg’s are the best in town. The menu has options for veggies, fish and lots of healthy choices. The guac is the best.
Go for the margs. The food is horrible. Basically cheese whiz. The margaritas are worth it, but plan to dine somewhere else!!
The people who say the food is bad must be on drugs. The food is fabulous and not really spicy. Just really good flavor!
Don’t waste your time. The place is always so loud you can’t hear yourself think or what anyone is saying. The food is absolutely horrible, as well as the service. I waited 15 minutes just for water and then when our meals came they were cold like they were sitting waiting to get delivered for a while. We tried it twice and both times were bad. We will never go back.
Don’t believe the hype. Don’t waste time here. always crowded and the margs are not that great or strong. Horrible food and good luck finding a waitress.
Average at best. Very loud atmosphere the evening we went. Food did not leave an impression.
