There Is Something to Be Said About Perfect Timing. So after a fairly sporty drive through the mountain passes, before you head back home in whatever direction, the Coyote Coffee Den fortuitously rises on the horizon precisely when you are aching for a proper cup of hot coffee to get you through that last leg of your journey. Here is a classic case of a brilliant entrepreneur filling a decidedly vital need to caffeinate America, one cup at a time. Set right along the highway as you reach your RPM stride in Penrose, Colorado, sits this surprisingly comprehensive cafe that offers great coffee, pretty good food, and spectacular views…not to mention some local live entertainment on Saturday night. Pretty impressive business model, if you ask me. They offer a full steam barista and a decent menu which includes wraps, sammiches, salads and burritos. The massive outdoor patio boasts stand-alone fire pits and amazing and restful mountain views. The service is fine, and the restrooms and facilities are clean as a whistle! You really need to give this place some love, because they are perfectly situated for that restorative pit stop before you head across the mountains or back down south to no man’s land. I actually look forward to stopping here on our next adventure across the fruited plain or along the purple mountain’s majesty. I wonder if I’ll spot any deer or antelope playing, you know, a friendly game of bocce or something? It’s more likely than you think…well, except for that bocce part.
