We walked in the door and the hostess was very rude. She rolled her eyes at us when we told her we didn’t have a reservation. The wait was only 20 minutes but it was as if it was 2 hours. We tried to order a drink at the bar but the bartender was too busy for him to even take out order. He turned us away, so we left. Skip the snooty rude restaurant and go to Purgy’s. The food was fabulous and the service was great.

Colorado favorite. My wife and I HAVE to eat at the Sow’s Ear every time we’re at Purgatory mountain. It is simply awesome. Great steaks and seafood; outstanding salads; innovative deserts. We have even celebrated our anniversary here. I really must challenge anybody who has eaten there to give it a bad rating. Good thing it’s out of town a little, because it keeps the crowds away!
Delicious. After reading the 50-50 reviews we decided to try it because it was the closest place we could find to the Durango Moutain Resort that was open in the off-season (last week of Sep 12).We could not have been happier. The rolls were warm, delicious and unique. The appetizer, Artichoke dip with toasted pita was deconstructed with a pickled artichoke on one side, and toasted spinach leaves on the other. A must try.We tried the petit filet, and the chicken. Both were delicious and we could not have been happier with the service, view and food. The chicken comes with a mashed cauliflower that I had never tried, but was delightfully surprised! We were so full, but couldn’t resist taking the sweet and buttery chocolate chip cookies to go.
Absolutely everything about the dining experience was amazing!!! The best seared ahi I’ve ever had. Shrimp bisque, filet, and shrimp entree – all perfection!! One of the very best in Durango!!
Could be better. Great locale and atmosphere, but the food is just so-so. Not too many options up on the mountain, though.
