Very disappointing. Went to 95a because we wanted sushi, we heard they have a great sushi chef but was very disappointed to find that the sushi we ordered came from the kitchen and there was not an actual sushi chef in house! Made me very leary and the presentation was far from what even looked like sushi. Would not recommend, go some place that you can actually see a sushi chef prepare your sushi. THis is not the place.
You lost me.. Was very excited to have a moderately priced/decent restaurant in our neighborhood. I haven’t been to 95A since last summer. The manager was so kind last summer when the restaurant opened and he was looking for return business. We supported them wholeheartedly. Just left dinner tonight and was somewhat shocked that the prices have gone up significantly, the food was fair and somewhat bland, but to top it off when I questioned the bill the manager was downright rude. I thought I was charged regular prices for our happy hour cocktails and when I simply asked the question, the manager was an ass about it. Fair food, poor service. I’m not going back.
95A I’m coming back. Expecting Magnolia’s, it is now called 95A. My friend had the night’s special. Excellent plate with a beautifully large piece of fresh copper river salmon. Came plated with rice and a salad of greens with avocado and oranges. Very nice. $21. Free bread for the table, on request…I chose from the tapas menu, which has both hot and cold choices– calif roll $6, plus a cold tapa of gold and red beets w/ goat cheese for $4, and a caesar salad with white anchovies for $8 (and the caesar could have fed two). Ah, those white anchovies…yum. Inside is still a nice atmosphere, wait staff polite and food is reasonable, inventive, quality, and delicious.
