Cafeteria style Tex- mex. Way overpriced. Sensory overload. The servers were nice and helpful. Sopapillas were also yummy, and come with the meal. We went and can say we’ve been there but won’t go back.
The place is colourfully decorated and the seating arrangements are at different levels.Entertainment, especially for the kids was the order of the day (or rather night) with some one or the other jumping into this pool of water. There were musicians serenading and going around every table keeping the mood buoyant. But the best that I liked was the caricatures done by Mr Chuck Morris. The food was sort of OK, but the ambiance made up for it.
Writing a review for Casa Bonita is kind of like writing a review for your least favorite sibling: you have a long list of grievances, but you can’t help but to love everything about them anyway. With that in mind, I’m going to break Casa Bonita down by category, and rate each category individually to reach my overall, average score.Food – 1.0Ambiance – 4.5Service -3.0Food: Casa Bonita has some of the most disgusting food you will ever eat in your life. Pro tip: sneak some seasoning in, because everything you’re about to eat will be painfully flavorless, and they only provide salt and pepper to season your meal with. Their sole, culinary saving grace lies in their sopaipillas, but there are not enough sopaipillas in this world to make up for flavorless chicken served to you on a cafeteria tray.Ambiance: This is what you’re coming to Casa Bonita for. This is the reason why you’re paying for an overpriced, nasty meal, and it’s why you will endure sticky children and bad drinks. Because when it comes to Black Bart’s cave, divers, and an arcade, you’re willing to sacrifice your appetite for the joy of being immersed in the most surreal dining experience of your life. Keep in mind, everything is a little bit gross, and it’s obvious that they haven’t updated anything since the 80’s, but that’s part of the overall charm.Service: I have never received bad service here, but I’ve never received exceptional service, either. I think the staff have resigned themselves to the fact that they’re getting paid virtually nothing to work at Casa Bonita. Here’s what I would say for Casa Bonita: go once solely for the experience. Never go again unless you have children that you really, REALLY love.
If you’re a grown adult and find little humour in small skits including gun fights, pirates, cowboys, gorilla suits and divers then stop now and pick somewhere with an amazing review for authentic Mexican food; believe me you’ll find plenty out there. However, if you can find entertainment from the afore mentioned or especially if you have children in tow then take the trip to Casa Bonita. The location is beautiful with an outdoor fountain and indoor waterfall. Near the indoor waterfall is where all the shows take place and there is an array of seating in which to be placed. Now I’ve been told the line to get in can be bothersome but was lucky enough to get in just before the rush. It can be a bit confusing on how to order. At the front of the line there is a board with your choices. The main thing is the beef and chicken all you can eat. We went with those and I highly recommend choosing something else, they are not worth it. Another table nearby said their taco bowl was tasty. Don’t get me wrong, the food wasn’t horrible. Taco Bell tastes much better if that says anything. The children’s meals were great and I believe around $5. Chicken strips tasted fantastic and the fries where so-so. Make sure to order everything right away as the service from the waiters is not anything worth boasting about. ADULTS the alcohol choices were tasty and helpful if you find the entertainment painful. Overall it’s more about the experience and entertainment than the food. Children love the place and adults can enjoy the design of the place.Note: There’s a tunnel like area you can go through; a cave of sorts. It is scary for the children! Ours hated it and the adults found it startling.
This review is a tough one to write- on the one hand Casa Bonita has terrible food and drinks(1 drink max btw) but on the other hand the whole place is super cool on the inside! They have an indoor waterfall featuring cliff divers so I give the food a -1.0, the ambience a 4.0 and an unquantifiable amount of bonus points for the Sopaipillas 🙂
Do not go here for the food! People come here to feed and entertain their kids – that’s all. My friends were curious to try this place because of its limited exposure on South Park. The food is terrible and, yes it’s true, Taco Bell has better food than this place. Casa Bonita served me possibly the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had. The food has no flavor and the beef enchilada was pretty difficult to choke down. The rice and beans were about the worst I’ve ever had. They’re definitely not using the highest quality ingredients, but that doesn’t stop them from overcharging. The only redeeming quality is that you get unlimited sopapillas, which are decent with honey drizzled on top, but sadly that is little consolation after choking down a $15 affront to the senses. The staff serving the food was not very welcoming, but the hostess and waiter were friendly. The iced tea was ok. However, if you don’t have hungry children, you do not want to be here. If you do have children, they will probably be fascinated by the place, but you and the other adults will want to eat elsewhere!
