Two dear friends and I went to Simms Steakhouse on July 31, 2015 to celebrate a birthday dinner. For two of us, this was the first time going to this particular restaurant and we were eager to see just how awesome it would be. The one person who had been to this restaurant before, turned out to have most of the mess ups with the meal.Upon arriving to the restaurant everything was going great, we were seated at the bar for a before dinner beverage with an appetizer. So far so goodWhen we were taken to our table our waiter, (Jeromy) introduced himself to us and proceeded to take our drink orders. Overall still good, but we noticed our server had an attitude or something going on.Jeromy brought out our drink requests and we continued to peruse the menu to prepare to give our orders after Jeromy told us about the special. Still goodWhen we placed our orders our server Jeromy made very little attempt to explain anything, especially since we had told him that two of us had never been to Simms Steakhouse before. The purpose of that statement is as follows: (See *)1st OrderSimms Chopped SaladPetite Filet MignonSide of Brussel Sprouts * enough for three or four people2nd OrderPrime Rib medium rare with Horse Radish (2 types)Side Au Gratin Potatoes * enough for three or four people3rd OrderCaesar SaladRib-Eye Steak medium rareSide Au Gratin Potatoes * enough for three or four peopleSide Creamed Spinach * enough for three or four peopleWhat we actually received was correct except the 2nd Order of Prime Rib came to the table as a Rib-Eye Steak. The two Rib-Eye Steaks were noticeably two different sizes, but was stated as being the exact same size. When the second Rib-Eye steak was rejected to Jeromy he removed the steak and went to have the Front of House (FOH) Manager (Jake McMillen) come to our table. The FOH Manager talked to us and we explained the problems. Almost immediately, Jeromy arrived back at the table with a piece of Prime Rib meat that looked as if it had never seen fire or any heat for that matter and set it down. The raw Prime Rib was vehemently rejected, but the FOH Manager stated that that is how Simms Steakhouse does medium rare meat. The purpose of our dinner at Simms Steakhouse for her birthday ordered a glass of wine to enjoy with her dinner. She never received it until after dinner, and that after telling the FOH Manager it was never received that she then received her wine. If I were a betting man, I would have bet that the glass of wine set on the table behind us was the glass of wine that Jeromy never delivered to our table. The kicker to the glass of wine that did not make it to the table for dinner, but was delivered after, it was charged at $24.00 without even a mention from Jeromy about the price. The FOH Manager Jake seriously tried to save face and make amends, but too little too late.As it was, my friend paid over $100.00 for Au Gratin Potatoes, because he was not going to chance eating anything after everything that had transpired so far.The Petite Filet Mignon as well as the Rib-Eye had no flavor, tender but no flavor. The Rib-Eye from the Menu was supposed to be On The Bone, but mine came without any bone. Actually, both of the Rib-Eyes were boneless, one eaten and one rejected. What food that was not eaten from the sides, was boxed up but not before Jeromy dumped one over on his tray. Needless to say, none of the left overs were consumed by any of us.After the meal and more confusion over the bills, the FOH Manager informed us that Jeromys grandfather had passed away. I am truly sorry for his loss, but he should have taken more time to recover before subjecting customers to his problems. It is safe to say that we will never go to Simms Steakhouse again, and we plan to tell everyone we know just how bad and expensive Simms Steakhouse really is. Three people without any drinks or tip paid $137.00.
Overall good place to go, but!!. The food and views were very good, but service was less then acceptable. We ordered sauces and toppings for some steaks (bernaise and oscar style). They seemed to forget this and the food was served without the extras we asked for. No one said they made a mistake, but took at least 8 minutes, while steaks were cooling, for them to correct their mistake. Management did comp the sauces and one steak after a conversation.
