Tamale Fest a bust. We decided to try La Sandia again, our first visit was so-so, and try the tamale festival advertised. First, we ordered the queso dip with chorizo – terrible, don’t get it. It was like mozzarella cheese with greasy bits of overdone sausage. The cheese was hardened and the grease was laying on top. Next we ordered the mix tamale plate – but they were out of pork, so they offered a duplicate of the other three to round it out. The tamales were cold, and uneventful. We also ordered the chile relleno de tamale Durango – This was pretty good. House margs were limey, service was poor. Looked like a decent bar, but there are plenty of much better mexican restaurants of all caliber to go to instead of this one.
Get the giant mango margarita with the corona sticking out of the top. That delicious beverage coupled with good food and the awesome balcony views can’t be beat!

First time we went here it was great – service, food, ambience. Following two visits service was horrible and we went at like 3 in the afternoon so it being busy was not a factor. Waiter took forever and floor manager walked on by without asking any questions. Lastly, food the first time was great but other times was just awful – stale, greasy. I’m never coming back.
Over Priced Soul Food. This is Not Mexican! John Travolta is More Mexican than anyone who works here. Chairs are uncomfortable, Service is slow and clueless, The food is so bad it makes me want to go get some Mexicans for them. What part of black beans, white rice, and four tortillas says Mexican?

Very disappointing! Brought chips & salsa, salsa looked great but was flavorless. Black beans and rice barely lukewarm and blah. Cheese enchilada had some kind of white cheese that was just a lump… Went downhill from there. I went across to Brio and had a dessert so I didn’t go away hungry.
