Great pub food and a really nice atmosphere!
Top Pick in Longmont. The Dickens never disappoints. The food is always good, and while we have had one bad service experience that server is no longer there, and we always have a great time now. The bread pudding is unbelievable. We even had our rehearsal dinner in one of the private rooms. Great locally owned, make sure to check it out.
Really poor service. Mediocre food. Better choices in town…spend the time to find better.
Bad Food, Worse Service. I recently visited Dickens Tavern to celebrate my birthday with my parents. My dad tried to order me a drink, but when I showed the server my driver’s license, he told me it wasn’t valid for some inexplicable reason. I had to have a manager look at my license before he would bring me an overpriced fuzzy navel that was served in a small glass and mostly ice. I guess my demand to see a manager must have upset him because he refused to speak to me or even look in my direction after that incident, interacting only with my parents instead. I’ve encountered some rude servers in my day, but he was by far the worst. The food was very expensive given the quality and completely unremarkable. I ordered Cheesy Pasta, and the sauce had a very chalky texture and tasted like Velveeta. It was hardly edible. My dad’s chicken pot pie was also disappointing because despite the nice presentation it was way too salty. Dickens needs to work on their food, and they especially need to hire better employees. Needless to say, I will not be going back.
Try the crab cakes, and make sure you get a 21 oz. Beer I highly reccomed.
I was impressed on my first visit. I’m usually very critical, but the service was good ,the food was good, and the price was appropriate. The atmosphere was laid back. Looking forward to returning.
