We ate there last night after a long day of site-seeing. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious and the pecan pie amazing! We’re from Chicago and I would recommend this place to everyone. Two thumbs up!!!!! Thank you
Don’t Get the Catfish!. I really enjoy FRB’s veggie burger (it’s delicious), so I thought I would try another non-meat option. But that was a big mistake. The catfish looked and tasted like it came out of a Sam’s Club frozen ready-made bag. The pieces of catfish were very small nuggets and the breading tasted like fine gravel. And the fries and coleslaw were nothing to write home about. Remember….don’t order the catfish!
Mellow Smoke, Tasty Sides, Pricey Dishes. A refurbished home residence, Front Range Barbeque retains a gnarly, rustic feel that is very dark, but moderately comfortable. You can see and smell the smoke wafting from behind the building, and it tantalizes one’s expectations for some great Q. The menu ranges from spicy Siracha wings, big ‘ole burgers, to the typical array of BBQ meats like sausage, brisket, chicken, ribs and pulled pork. The sides are also interesting and include Louisiana style red beans and sausage rice, which sadly were not available today, and a cayenne creamy cole slaw. I tried the bacon baked white and red bean offering and that was sweet and deftly spiced to give it a rich, smokey flavor. My fries, contrary to several other reviews, were freshly made, crispy, and well-seasoned. I really liked them and the added onion straws on top of my two meat platter. The brisket was very well prepared, had a great smoke ring, was tender with a gentle smokiness, and had an excellent bark. It was among the best I have had in this area. The sweet and spicy sauce was a perfect match to the brisket, though the original sauce as well as the mustard and wine BBQ sauce each complemented the beefiness. The ribs were the star of the meal and were hot, juicy, with great fat and a crispy-gooey outside, while remaining tender and spicy in the end. I really liked them and could taste the hickory, mesquite and pecan wood pellet smokiness used by the pit chef. FRB has pretty good service and is a funky place with admittedly pricey combo platters at around 18 bucks or more, but is stll definitely worth a revisit. So long as they have the red beans and sausage rice ready next time.
This resturant may have convinced me that I have never had BBQ before! At least good BBQ.. That’s for sure!
Cool place and outside seating. Pulled pork was a bit fatty. Good onion strings.
Atmosphere. The atmosphere at Front Range is awesome. The food, not so much, but the live music and the good local beer selection make up for it. Go get food somewhere else, then come enjoy a beer and a concert.
Having a bad night!. Went to Front Range Sunday evening and order a rack of ribs. These were the nastiest things I have ever seen. I think they were raw since I couldn’t cut through them with a knife! If I were you and looking for ribs I’d look elsewhere. I know they pride themselves as coming from Auburn Al but I know Auburn doesn’t have food this nasty. Go somewhere else.
