Not as good as Gray’s. In case you’re not aware, there is a longtime rivalry between the Sunset inn and Gray’s coors tavern over who created the slopper, so it’s difficult to talk about one without referring to the other. The other day I got one at Gray’s and today I had one at Sunset and honestly I don’t see how they beat Gray’s for title of best slopper. Overall it wasn’t too bad but it didn’t have as much flavor as a Gray’s slopper. Basically almost everything was a bit more bland than Grays. The burger patty was OK, better than a lot of burgers I’ve had around here, but wasn’t a whole lot better than just filler. The green chili was ok but it tasted like it was just thrown together in a large batch following a recipe to the letter from ingredients out of a can. Somewhere between straight from a can and homemade. The service, atmosphere, and prices are pretty much the same, though Gray’s offers more portion size options so regardless of appetite they have one for you. Of the two gray’s has the better slopper.
Bar atmosphere, kids are welcomed before 8pm. Service is a lil slow (it is a bar) you may have to wave your hand to flag someone, making eye contact won’t be enough. Decent prices! We (family of 4) ate for $35.00
Ugh. So there kitchen isn’t open in Sundays????? Really???!!!! What about for foot ball games? I can not even believe a bars kitchen is not open on Sundays. Bad business if you ask me. Also there staff is all family and they feel because they are family they don’t have to be as nice as they should be. They really need to start hiring out side of the family and get people in there with out an attitude. If you are looking for a place with good food and service and who appreicate the Military go to Coors home of the original slopper. Sorry Sunset I was one of your biggest fans for a long time, But no more, you had a soldier walk into your bar in uniform and not once did you say anything to him. I was shocked, even after you heard hime telling people how he had just returned home from war. When we wnt to Coors and he wasn’t even in uniform and the conversation came up and they compt the meal and showed their appreciation. That is how you should treat your Military. Really get a grip you won ONE award woohooo
Pretty alright burgers
Slopper (with pork) was amazing. HUGE portion (really–just look at the photo) — big burger SMOTHERED with chili sauce had just the right amount of spice. The rest of the menu looks good but really–if you come here you HAVE to have the slopper. Wonderful, friendly service made for a perfect meal–will definitely stop by again when we next visit Pueblo.
Sloppers are great, but…. Opinions differ, and mine is that this has the second-best sloppers in Pueblo (see Gray’s Coors Tavern). But they’re still wonderful. Do yourself a favor and try both and make up your own mind.
Best green chili sloppers in town. Huge portions will not go home hungry.
