This place is a little unusual in its set up. The main area of the restaurant is a bar with small surrounding tables and the classic restaurant area is very small. The main area is very drafty so I had to leave my jacket on for dinner. On the positive side the bartenders are very friendly and make great drinks. I had the short ribs and they were excellent. I would go back.
Our family loves the Artisan for the beautifully prepared delectable meals. Excellent wine list, lovely ambiance. A jewel in the Snowmass Village crown.
David vonn holten is one of the best chefs in Colorado.!!!!!! Look out Mark Fisher, David is on his way and his hard work to detail and enthusiasm for flavor is amazing. I think maybe your mentors should look out for you!!!! Love you Molly and the Daniel!!!!!!
Staying at the Stonebridge Inn? Consider the Artisan.. My wife and I stayed at the Stonbridge Inn in Snowmass for the Vasque Aspen Golden Leaf Trail Run. While there we visited the Artisan a few times over two days, to experience what they had to offer. The night we checked in we had a couple of drinks at the bar. I am pleased that they carried Fat Tire and Stone IPA on tap, so I had to have one of each. The bartender was pleasant and prompt. My wife had their cold breakfast in the morning before her race. She said it was pretty typical continental breakfast fare and was good, but not exciting for $10 a person ($14 for the hot breakfast buffet, which was also a typical assortment of foods). I did not eat there for breakfast, but had some coffee at another biz in the mall plaza of Snowmass before the race… that’s another review. The night of the race we decided to eat dinner at the Artisan and we were glad we did. After viewing the menu over two days in our room, we thought we would try some of this cuisine. It was a busy night and we were seated at the bar at first for a couple of drinks. The bar tender this evening seemed surly and put off. He was slow to acknowledge people at the bar. He after being shy of a couple oz of the wine my wife wanted a glass of, he presented two other options and once picked, poured a glas with bits of cork in it. Nice. When we moved to a table he grumbled about it.Our server was absolutely awesome! She was sweet and helpful, steering us through the menu and nightly specials. For starters we shared a yam/coconut curry soup that was the best! It was like savory candy and so good. My wife ordered the salmon and I had the drunken duck. Both dishes were very good and well thought out. The portion sizes were on the moderate to large size, which was good considering the entrees were hovering around $30 a plate.Expensive? Yes. Delicious? Yes. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in Snowmass, CO area. If you can swing a $120 meal, try this place out! Imaginative dishes that taste great on the tongue.
