Bad customer service. My family comes to Steamboat to vacation a couple times a year. The first time we went to Carl’s was last summer and we had a terrible experience. The waitress was extremely rude and the food was not worth the bad experience.We are in town again and decided to give it another try this afternoon. 4 adults and two small kids were in our party. We walked in at around 1:30. There were at least 6 open tables that we could see. The Hostess looked at us with a thin smile and asked us if we had a reservation -we said No. She was super rude and said she could not help us. No smile, sorry we are full, nothing. She was not friendly at all plus there were a ton of open tables. Made us think perhaps they did not want kids there. We won’t be going back.
$5.00 condiments. I first say that my family really likes this place. The food and atmosphere are fun the service is okay but we are in the mountains but I post this review in regards to condiments. We were here over Thanksgiving weekend and had a party of 13 with an approximately $200 bill. On closer examination of the bill I was appalled to see over $5.00 in charges for sides of blue cheese dressing, ranch dressing a side of regular mayonnaise and CHEESE on a CHEESEBURGER!! We are up in Steamboat several times a month and would be regulars here but charging people for this stuff without giving them a heads up is a crummy practice.
A winner all the way! Not too pricey if you don’t want it to be. Great burgers!!!! Have the bread pudding too!
Good food, great services. I had pulled pork sliders and friend had halibut special.Halibut was cooked perfectly. Other friends had chicken pot pie with a puff pastry top.
NOT suitable for children. This is a sports bar, and that is really all. They have countless giant TVs broadcasting sports. It is extremely loud. The TV over our table started to show boxing–a violent sport not appropriate for our five year old child. It was only 6:45 pm, not late. We asked for the boxing to be turned off at the screen over our table. They complied and stated that they have a child-friendly policy of not showing boxing and MMA. But other screens continued to show the boxing, so I very much doubt that they have any such policy. You can get an adequate steak here, nothing special. the menu looks like ordinary bat food. if you enjoy being assaulted by TVs when you go out, then you might enjoy this place, but it is really just like every other sports bar everywhere.
Terrible, terrible, terrible!! Horrible hostess staff, unsympathetic management and unorganized. We made reservations, got seated on time, ordered our drinks & were excited to try this restaurant. Low and behold we were accused of sneaking in on someone else’s reservation! Yeah, like we just HAPPEN to know who was on your computer at the same time and with our same number of people. After the TERRIBLY angry and unsightly hostess came to our table and accused us three other people questioned us as well. Finally we were rudely told that we did not have a reservation and told to leave!! We were humiliated and had to walk out, drinks sitting in the table! Like our money isn’t any good? We are not young teenagers trying to pull a prank. We ended up at Mahogany Grill and had a blast. Amazing food, great service and you better believe we let everyone we could know about our experience at Carl’s. Wishing we’d read some of these reviews before we went there. Customer service is NOT on there list of priorities. Fail.
