This is the third time weve been thoroughly disappointed by this restaurant. Again we had the worst kitchen ticket time Ive ever experienced in a restaurant. The kitchen manager for this restaurant should be fired. The Entire kitchen staff should be fired right along with him.Three tables in the restaurant They were dead Not busy.25 minutes for fried spring rolls. 45 minutes for steamed rice steamed tofu and steamed broccoli for our kid. 10 minutes to go fetch an ice tea with two reminders to the waitress. Got handed the ice tea with our check and still got charged three dollars for it.
After my last experience at Happy Sumo I won’t be returning or recommending it to anyone. Spicy roll was unbearably salty as were several of the pieces. When I brought this to the manager he refuted my claim despite the fact that my entire group were unable to stomach eating what we had ordered. He didn’t refund us or do anything material to address our dissatisfaction. Still hungry we ended up eating at home. I had eaten there several times before without complaint. Never the best sushi in town but OK until this instance.

Requires no soy sauce, a slight dab of Wasabi adds a nice heat to the overall sweetness. By far my favorite order here at happy sumo.15 Feb, 2015Favorite sushi spot in CO, for the moment. Having eaten here a number of times over 3 years I would say that this place offers very delicious sushi and we’ll portioned servings. the service here has an still is amazing, for the most part. 2-3 years back waiters were Always tentative to each customer as if it were a 5 star restaurant. Granted, I’ve eaten here primarily around dinner time for the last few years, never lunch. I come in there around 2:30pm and expect it to be busy, and it sort of was especially it being valentine’s day. The one thing I would advise if you want great service, don’t show up at peak hours…apparently this place can’t handle the climate of a packed house. Nor would I expect any sushi establishment to do so. This is seafood people, not burgers. You can’t just fry up this stuff and slap it on a patty. If anything, I really wish happy sumo would take a little more time on the sushi. it seems a lot of my food was rushed during my last visit. The last time I was in, my sushi looked as if an artist assembled each piece and took their time, the food is still tasty but it feels like things are slapped together lazily. Especially my tuna and mackeral nigiri order, the rice was not packed well enough, the fish fillet was lazily cut and semi dry, definitely not traditional in essence. Keep your guard up happy sumo, sushi is becoming a stiff competition these days. This place is too good to get a bad rap, I’m reading the customer service complaints and that is unfortunate. I agree with everyone, Happy Sumo, please get rid of the 16 year olds who are not paying attention, the last 5 times I’ve walked in the door either no one was at the front desk or they acted as if I was a ghost. Once you get people in their who take the time in the great menu items, and more focused greeters …your back. Oh and your bartender is amazing, funny and very talkative gal. Last 3 times I’ve been in she always helps people out and gets everyone in a good spirit, she deserves a raise indeed. Still my favorite spot in Colorado for the moment.
They’re VIP program offers GREAT deals almost nightly. Try the seared tuna and Vegas roll, you won’t be disappointed.
SUSHI DEN NOT HAPPY SUMO. As soon as I walked in the door, I saw two waitresses just speaking to each other not attending to me at all for at least 3 minutes. They didn’t even say hello. When I got seated by Ashley, she was nice at first, but then I had to ask her to refill my water. Then another time when I needed my water refilled I had to ask another server. I had to ask her to take my bowls away, and I also had to ask her to take away my chopstick wrappers because she didn’t take them away the first time. I am Asian and familiar with sushi and for these kind of prices, the sushi is definitely NOT worth it. SUSHI DEN is the place to go if you wanna pay for those prices. The sushi wrap (seaweed) was very tough and very chewy. 3 pieces of 2 different kinds of rolls split open due to the dryness of the seaweed and how tightly they were wrapped. The fish isn’t as fresh as Sushi Den’s and the service was horrible. The waitresses don’t care about their customers.
Focused a bit on the Rock & Roll sushi roll and was happily surprised. Dark cozy setting and pleasant staff. Be patient as it took a long time to get our food.
We went late afternoon on Mother’s Day and we had great service and awesome sushi. Love having pictures on the menu. The place was tastefully decorated and the plum wine was very good too. Would definitely come here again.
