My family has been coming to Armando’s for 20 years ( back to when it was a store front restaurant). It is not the best Italian restaurant in Danbury, but it is a good dependable one. I have never had a surely or rude waiter. It is a family run restaurant. It is not inexpensive, but far from expensive. The portion size for the Fried Calamari was enough for four and spicy dipping sauce excellent. The fettuccini with Bolognese sauce was a generous portion. The entree includes a salad for which many restaurants charge extra. It is possible that another reviewer had a bad experience, but 40 year of eating out tells me that it can happen at any restaurant on any night
Please do not go here. Food was between so-so and poor. Can’t comment on all the wait staff but our waiter seemed like he would rather be anywhere but waiting tables. There was nothing interesting or out if the ordinary that would make me ever consider going back unless it closed down and reopened with a new staff and chefs etc.Better to spend your money elsewhere.
First and foremost I would like to say I have never in my life had a service experience so aweful that I felt the need to share as soon as possible. Bobby ours server was incredibly unpleaseant and unprofessional. He did not know the menu and seemed put out when we asked for clarification. A member of our party selected a steak special for 25 dollars and I would be surprised if it was a 2 dollar cut of meat. It came with nothing… Not even a piece of parsley for garnish. A side of fries was ordered and it was lesser quality than McDonalds and three times the price. At the end of the meal when we complained to management Bobby came out and told us we were rude and proceeded to be rude and condescending to our entire family. Apparently this is acceptable to the management as she stood there and let it continue.Food was poor, service was worse. Bony should not be allowed to work in a rock quarry much less a restaurant.
Went there tonight, the place itself is pretty and relaxing but sadly the food was just okay. I ordered the gluten free penne with vodka sauce and although mine was pretty tasty the sauce just diddnt have the true flavor of good vodka sauce. My boyfriend had gotten the fettucini bolognese and it was really salty and heavy. Plus the waiting time of the wait staff took awhile so that got a little annoying. Overall it isnt my favorite.
Went here for dinner w/coworkers. The calimari was great! My dish was great (I don’t remember the name but it was shrimp and pasta w red sauce and a little spicy). The garlic cheese bread was great. I’d go here again if I visit the area again.
