Beautiful Dining Experience!. We went a few nights ago for my husband’s birthday dinner and brought our 2 year old. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted warmly by name and seated at a table with the high chair already set up. Our waiter was wonderful and went out of his way to make sure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed for our daughter. The entire staff made us feel comfortable. The Chef came out to greet us. We really loved the peaceful country feel of The Schoolhouse. All of the food was outstanding and delicious. The Chef excels at presenting inventive cuisine that maintains and highlights the natural flavors of farm fresh ingredients. We loved everything. This is a special dining experience. We will definitely dine there again soon. BEAUTIFUL!!

Loved it!. Went with a large group of friends, it was a price fixed meal on that evening, all the choices were fabulous. We all ordered different meals and tried each other’s, each meal was very tasty. The quality was superb, presentation was beautiful, they had a good selection of wines, price was very affordable, wait staff couldn’t be more pleasant. It is a very old school house and when sitting by the windows in Winter, bundle up 🙂

Good food gone bad. I know lots of people have great things to say about The Schoolhouse, but our experience there wasn’t great. We went with friends and they agreed too. The service was just okay, not exemplary. The food, also, came out very cold. We asked for it to be warmed because it was cold and it came back slightly warmer, but still cold. For what you pay you’d expect so much more. omnomct.com

Very good? Yes. Excellent? NO. A gallant effort. The right idea. Needs some fine tuning. An honest effort to utilize local ingredients and bring interesting, innovative food to the table. Unfortunately, I think the Chef is a victim, sometimes, of his creative mission and forgets what EVERYONE’S goal is when eating out; great food. Let me explain……changing menus daily is a daunting task, no matter how talented the Chef, no matter how large his Brigade. Sometimes, at the Schoolhouse, I feel as if things are thrown together as for the sake of shock appeal, or at the very least, just to be different. I have eaten at the finest restaurants in the world (French Laundry, Restaurant Bocuse, Chez Pannise, etc).I thoroughly enjoy Chef Tim’s cuisine and approach, most of the time. I get what he’s trying to do, I really do. I just think sometimes he tries to do too much. 8.5/10.

Outstanding. There are few restaurants in Connecticut worth driving more than 10 minutes to eat at. The Schoolhouse is worth driving 10 hours.
