The Best All Around. Me and some friends came here because we were in Connecticut for a day and needed somewhere to eat for lunch. The staff greeted us as we came in and were very friendly and helpful. Our waitress, Rose, gave us great advice on where to go for fun. Normally I would be a little bothered by having the waitstaff conversating so much but they were so fun and friendly we enjoyed it. We shared chicken gnocchi, Rose Pasta, Crab cake, Mac n’ cheese and cheesy garlic bread. None of it was mediocre. We had trouble deciding which one was our favorites it was all so wonderful! If you have the chance to stop by here DO IT!
Rose pasta, sea bass and chicken parmigiana were all very good. They seated us quickly even without a reservation and the fact the restaurant was almost full. Recognizing that we were out of towners, they gave us a parting gift of biscotti to take back to the hotel. Nice touch.
Off the charts great. Went before a Wolfpack game, service and food was incredible. Every staff member was super nice. They made sure we had parking validated, and even asked if we wanted to leave leftovers in their fridge until after the game. Said we could come and get parking validated by them even if we weren’t going to Salute. On our way out, they gave us two loaves of the famous garlic bread.Food was great. Service even better. Highly recommend.
Salute is absolutely awesome! A group of is went here for dinner before a comedy show for a friends birthday. We parked in a garage near the show and walked to salute. After arriving, the manager told us they validate parking in their garage so it was only 3$ to park. He asked how much I paid and I told him 8$. He walked away, and came back and handed me a 5$ bill to validate my parking. Impressive. We had reservations for 8pm, and they were running alittle late so we were seated at 815, no big deal. The manager came over once we were seated, & apologized countless times for the wait. He then told us to come back after our show for a drink on him. For all 5 of us. He also gave us 2 loaves of their amazing cheesy garlic bread to take home. When we returned after our show, the manager impressed us again by remembering every one of our names, even after 4 hours had passed. The service was beyond excellent as well as the food. 100% satisfied and will definitely be returning!!
I love this place! I haven’t ever eaten inside the restaurant…always order takeout but it is always consistent. Staff always friendly when ordering and picking up. Great food!!!
Hand down one of the best restaurants I have been to in a long time. Not only was the food spot on, but the service was the best I have had anywhere. From sit down to food on table during a busy hour was no more than 20 minutes. And soooo friendly. I would give this place a big Two Thumbs Up. Thank you for such an enjoyable dinner.
A Tough Call…. This place is cozy and tucked away next to Bushnell Park, decent atmoshpere and good service. Went on a busy (busy for them at least) Saturday night. I made reservations but there seems to be some disorganization and there was a bit of waiting which loses points for them right off the bat. I called ahead and made these reservations so I wouldn’t have to wait. Seemed as thought eh guy in charge and the lady at the front desk didn’t communicate well and he had to have the power to sit people. Note, if a table is open and someone has a reservation, sit them at said table. Eventually we got the table that was open almost the whole time we waited. The food choices all sounded great, and there were many to choose from. They need an overhaul on the wine list since I like many options, and the beer was run of the mill choices for people that have no taste, or know nothing about beer. The most exoctic thing I saw was Peroni in bottles. For appetizers, we had the cheesy garlic bread, a flatbread pizza dish with cheese and sausage, and the meatball salad. The meatball salad is just how it sounds meatballs on salad. I thought it was genius, but the salad was good enough to eat on it’s own, but paired together it’s not bad, and have ordered the garlic cheese bread it paired well since you had something to soak up the sause with. The meatballs were decent and the sause was just ok. I’ve had MUCH worse. The flatbread pizza thing had SWEET ITALIAN SAUSAGE, CARMELIZED ONION, SUN-DRIED TOMATOES AND FRESH MOZZARELLA , they did not skimp, my only complaint on the dish was they did nothing to cut down on the grease from the sausage. They need to drain it or something before trapping the meat between bread and cheese. Other than that, it was good. For the main dishes we had the , Pasta ala Vodka with chicken, ZITI TOSSED IN A SAUCE OF LIGHT TOMATO CREAM, FETA CHEESE, BROCCOLI, GARLIC AND SUN DRIED TOMATO, Chicken Gnocchi, GNOCCHI WITH HOME MADE PESTO CREAM SAUCE, the Giobatto, A SPICY STEW OF CHICKEN, SAUSAGE AND VEAL WITH FENNEL, MUSHROOMS, RED AND YELLOW PEPPERS OVER EGG FETTUCCINE. First, the gnocci with pesto was good, I’d say maybe a little undercooked, but good, the chicken was tender, which is a plus in my book. The Giobatto, was decent and full of the meats they promised, but the sausage was too smoky for my taste. I like spice, not smoky. Finally, the Pasta ala Vodka was the best, again, the chicken was tender, cheese great, and the brocoli taste. It’s hard for me to rate this resturant bad, I don’t want too. They are trying and the food pairings are great. I think some small tweaks and this place could be a great spot. Not sold on going back, but somedoay I’ll have to try them again after I’ve exhausted other places in the area. I’d say give it a try and make your own decision. Both the hosts try really hard to make you feel welcome and he gets points for doing so. They just need to learn that Saturday nights are busy, and this resturant isn’t close to as busy as resturants can get, so learn a lesson and become even greater!
