Excellent meal (but skip the cake). This was our first visit. Very friendly service. Our meal was simple but very good, and the cook seemed to pay attention to every ingredient. The french onion soup was the best I’ve had in a restaurant. My wife and I both had a pastrami reuben – the meat was excellent, and the sauerkraut was great. The coleslaw was maybe the best I’ve ever tasted, and the fries were crispy, not greasy, very very good. Even the slices of pickle on the side were excellent. My wife had the mashed potatoes on the side, and they were fantastic, Thanksgiving-day good.The only sour note was the dessert; you would do better to buy a frozen cake at the Quik-E-Mart. One was a very poor version of cheesecake, with a mushy, bland crust and almost no flavor of cream cheese, and the other was a strange terrible raspberry sponge cake deal. I’m no expert, but everything we had in our entree seemed fresh and home made, while these cakes must have been factory-made, and not in a very good factory at that. Please ditch them!We will definitely be back – best diner food we’ve had in Connecticut. But next time I will try the pie, but first I’ll ask where it’s made.
