I too was at in the bar this same time and have no complaints with Bry the bartender. In fact I found it quite comical the interaction he had with a tedious customer such as yourself rg. If you wanted steamed vegetables, you should have made them at home yourself. I too have been in the restaurant business and recognize a customer who can’t be pleased and I think this is the first time you’ve ever been called out on it. Hahahaha
Some Positives / Some Negatives…. Remember when you used to get a report card in school and the teacher would write – Needs Improvement? This is the feeling I get when I go to @ the Corner…It just doesn’t seem to have hit it’s stride yet, but there are definitely some positives here. We’ve been there three times now since it became @ the Corner (and were there before, when it used to be The Blue Bar and Restaurant) and each time there are some hits, but also some misses. In terms of service, it’s always been okay. Not great, but not bad. Seems like the staff has some stars and also some that are less impressive. Generally this is a sign of poor management. They need to weed out the bad ones and this doesn’t seem to be happening. The food can be really good, or very uninspiring. For example, I went for the tuna two ways last time we were there and had a double order to make it into an entree – and it was delicious. Perfectly cooked, excellent presentation and very enjoyable. At the same time my wife had the fish and chips – which were soggy, flavorless and had all the pizazz of a Swanson’s TV Dinner…The waitress seemed uninterested in our complaints. On a previous visit, my wings were undercooked and very bland, while my wife had a delicious Paella special. So I haven’t given up hope yet, but at the same time, can’t really recommend this restaurant.
Not as Good as the West Sreet Grill But Very Good.. There are times when towns have one or two restaurants and very little choice. @ The Corner, is a nice diversion. The food is good quality and I recommend eating there, especially their meat dishes. While the food is not as creative as the West Street Grill, it still holds it’s own, and maintains a good price point.
Love this place. Surprised to read the negative reviews. Been going here since the start. Love the cheese appetizer sampler. Nachos are picture perfect. Specials are always appetizing. I’ve never had a bad experience.
Great Spot–You’ll Feel Like Family. You’ll feel like a regular at @ the Corner whether you sit in the dining room or the bar (the high-tops in the bar are my wife’s and my favorite). The wine is poured in generous measures, the margaritas (they don’t do frozen) are wonderful, and the food is great–the puled pork sandwich being my favorite with the fish and chips a close second. I’m mystified by some of the negative reviews elsewhere on this site. I’ve eaten here at least a dozen times in the past couple years and never had anything less than great experience. It’s a menu with something for everyone, whether it be a lobster panini ot a caesar salad. I’m proud this place is in my home town, and recommend it to everyone.
Great location ruined by bad food and service. Arrived for a late lunch and three staff continued to chat not five feet from the podium while we stood there and waited to be seated. The place was almost empty because of the hour, yet we were taken to a table that was dirty and which had to be cleaned while we waited again, dispite the fact that there were many empty tables fully set. After a half swipe with a wet rag. that only removed half the crumbs, our table did not get a table cloth like the rest had either. Ordered a ceasar salad with grilled chicken, a relatively easy meal to prepare. My plate came out at least ten minutes before my wife’s dish and was placed on a room divider while the waitress set some tables. It sat there uncovered the entire time. By the time my wife’s dish cameout it was ice cold. The chicken was overcooked and dried out while the lettuce was wilted. The waitress never came by to check on if we were satisfied with our food so the meal ended up 1/4 eaten then pushed aside. Much later another waitress came to take the plates away and did ask how the meal was and did take the meal off the bill, but it’s a little late at that point.
What happened to this restaurant! Save your money and drive an extra couple miles to De Capo. I can’t see this place making it to much longer.
