Lovely enough place, but I must say the Irishman who owns the place loves to lecture his guests. For the prices, I would expect gracious hospitality. The food was tasty enough, but the charm of Litchfield and the restaurant location, decor and ambiance carry the day. Oh, and tidy bathrooms with pleasant fragrances to match would help to avoid spoiling the meal when you step into a dank smelling commode.

Absolutely excellent. I make sure to come here every time I’m in Connecticut and have never been disappointed. Comfortable, intimate setting, delightful staff, and a delicious, diverse menu.
Consistently great for over 20 years. The Grill is simply the best restaurant in the area, and has been for over 20 years. It is innovativeand fun. Customers great each other, and enjoy the company of friends and strangers in this welcoming place. The food is always first rate; fresh and organic ingredients, offerings for every palate. James and Charlie make sure any dietary need is met, and Jim Cosgriff never ceases to amaze. Great wait staff as well. No pretense, just a demand for perfection for palate and experience.
Consistently Excellent. Business travel affords me an opportunity to visit many fine restaurants, my dinner last night reminds me how fortunate I am to have this restaurant right in my back yard. The staff, from the owners on down where attentive to my wife and myself but additionally they made my 14 year old daughter feel like she was the most important person that ever dined there. The consistently of the food and the service is what distinguishes this restaurant from others. In the fast paced world that we live its enjoyable to sit back, relax and truly enjoy a special meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to celebrate a special time together either as a couple, with friends or with family.
Rude, arrogant, hostile owner. Rude, arrogant, hostile owner ruined my friend’s special occasion by insulting his son. Owner was curt, snotty, and utterly unrepentant about his awful attitude and manner. If you value decency and respect, do not spend your money here.
The finest restaurant in Litchfield County. I have visited the Litchfield area for nearly 20 years, and have dined at, I think, all of the quality restaurants in the area. The West Street Grill is by far the finest. The food is as exquisitely prepared as a fine restaurant in Manhattan, the environment is stylish and inviting, the service is expert and affable, and the very likable owners, Charlie and Jamie, are always on hand to welcome guests, stop by your table to chat, and make sure everything is going as extraordinarily as they work tirelessly to assure that it is. Wonderful wine list, too. I return as often as I can.
