They have recently updated their decor. It refreshed the popular 20 year old restaurant. Along with their tasty and reliable standard dishes they have added a new list of specials. The staff has always been very friendly and attentive. The owner/chef Alan Lee is talented, accommodating and an excellent chef. In a town like New Canaan where the restaurant scene is very competitive Ching’s Table has been able to survive and excel because meets local and out of towners culinary needs.
Went Downhill. We were so disappointed with our lunch yesterday at one of our favorite restaurants. We have been dining at CHing’s for a few years and it has always been consistent and delicious. Yesterday, not so much. We were handed a prix fixe lunch menu- ok $11.95 for 2 items – not so bad- but this was unexpected so we asked for the regular menu. Since we don’t eat meat, my husband wanted shrimp in his Vietnamese salad. The server wasn’t sure if this was possible – not sure why, as there are shrimp on the menu. He came back to confirm ok , so we ordered Summer Rolls, Vegetable Pad Thai and A Vietnamese Salad with Shrimp Instead of chicken). The Summer rolls were bland- good thing they were sitting in a pool of spicy sauce. The rice paper wrappers were stale and rubbery. My Vegetable Pad Thai had none of the spicy sweetness one expects and was practically devoid of vegetables – a few slivers here and there, but basically a bowl of thick insipid rice noodles with a mysterious red tinge. I was really hungry, but only ate half of this mess. The Vietnamese salad we have come to know and love was also bland. Period. The 4 grilled shrimp looked good, but were not very tasty either. The service was shaky- and they charged us for tea! Good bye to Chings Table.

Best Chinese place in Fairield County. Best Chinese food in Fairfield county. Friendly staff. Great location. Go there every Saturday for the $10.95 lunch special.
