Gave Elm a second try tonight. Used to be a place that only a serious foodie would appreciate. New menu. Still innovative, but with more familiar ingredients. Still limited, but with something for every one. Still expensive, but now that Gates is gone what isn’t? The complementary warm rolls, goat cheese salad and burratta with pesto sauce were excellent. The trout with risotto and lobster roll with shoe string fries were very good. Beautiful space and very attentive service.

Thumbs up. Interesting to see the mixed reviews on Elm. We’ve been several times, and have found the food to be excellent and the service very professional. It’s also nice to find a place in CT decorated up to date. Along with LeFarm in Westport, I think this is the standard for CT restaurants at the moment.

I just ate at elm for the first time, if your looking for a place to garb an expensive drink and strange meal look no further. The constantly changing menu clearly causes some issues in the kitchen and it shows in the food. If you like ordering a salad and getting a mixed assortment of random much you can’t identify, look no further

Food and service not up to par. Had to try it since there were so many negative reviews about the food and service. Had to see for myself if this new restaurant was worthy of so much criticism. Sadly, it is as disappointing as I was told. They are competing with some very good restaurants in the area which have been around for quite some time. Portion to price, decor, and service simply do not cut it. They won’t win the hearts and stomachs of locals in New Canaan and surrounding towns that way.

Like eating in a space ship. Sterile environment. Waitstaff rude. Bartender shocking. Food good. Those who don’t know better will think great. Portion size extremely small. Whoever thought of this restaurant concept and whoever thought this would work in New Canaan is truly clueless about what locals and surrounding towns want in a restaurant.
