Overpriced and overwrought. This place tries, but fails, to be a comfortable, quality tourist joint. In fact, the quality of the food is way below what the prices suggest. Worse, however, the service is unfriendly, slow, and in attentive. If you have kids – expect to be ignored.
We walked in the restaurant and we were greeted by a gracious hostess. The waitress and service were fast and pleasant. The food was delicious! The came hot and fast. WeHad the sword fish and the lazy lobster. I would definitely return again when I am in mystic.
Went here for dinner since there was no wait and it was close by where we were staying. We should have waited the hour and a half for the other place we wanted to go. It is not worth what you pay for. Service was mediocre and the food was not good. I had the lobster Mac and cheese which was supposed to be one of their favorites. The entree came out hot but was soupy and what little cheese there was was lumpy. Lobster Mac and cheese is supposed to be cheesy and not drippy. Totally not with the $80 we paid for drinks and two entrees.
Just don’t…. Make reservations at S&P Oyster down the street, it’s about 10,000 times better than this place.. The food at Ancient Mariner is fowl and so is the service. It’s well known if you live in Mystic that this place sucks. Go to Friendly’s for better fare and service. Oh yes, it is radically over priced as well.
Food is not great but not bad. French onion soup is very good. Way overpriced for the quality of food. Service is terrible. Be prepared to sit and wait for everything including the check. We came here last year and didn’t have a bad experience. This year was unfortunately different. Probably won’t be back.
