Disappointed. I have been dining at the Fisherman for about 16 years now and have always had an enjoyable meal. I’ve noticed a decline over the past handful of visits though. Last night was one of the worst. Besides my Fresh Atlantic Salmon being overcooked, my baked potato tasteless, our waitress forgetting to put in our appetizer order, and our table being broken, the clams in my husband’s Spicy Seafood Pasta were not open. When we questioned the waitress, she confirmed that they are supposed to be open, and to just ‘try to pry it open’. Needless to say my husband did not eat the clams and the waitress saw this when our meals were done and did not say anything about it. Hopefully improvements are made soon, don’t know if I’ll be returning anytime soon though.

Was very disappointed. Had to send back cherry stones that had an off smell. Had two of four clams in my spicy seafood pasta not open. Broiled Scollops were good. Went in with large party (9) only one wait person for our table and she had many other tables. I won’t return.

Great!. While in Groton on business, I happened into Fisherman with an associate. I was very impressed with the service as well as the food. Portions were large and quality was fantastic. I will definately be back.

Worth the trip!. On a late summer visit to Groton Connecticut we visited your lovely restaurant. The suggestion to do so was made by the hotel that we stayed at, The Days Inn on Gold Star Highway. I am so glad we made the beautiful drive to your restaurant. The setting was beautiful, your staff so friendly and accomodating. We were fortunate enough on this busy night to be seated at a window table with an amazing view of the water and what looked like a small wedding celebration on your patio. Our waitress was wonderful and very attentive. She suggested the Hangar steak to us if we were looking for a beef entree and my husband was so very happy she turned us onto it. The meat was as tender as she promised and the mushroom sauce was delicious. The portion size was plentiful. I selected the Baked Stonington Sea Scallops and Shrimp and I wasn’t disappointed. We were also very pleased with bread that came with dinner and so impressed with the compound butter that accompanied it, it was simply marvelous. I will end with our beginning…the sherried lobster bisque. I would easily call this the best lobster bisque I have ever had in my life, and it is one of my favorite soups. The richness and thickness of the soup was perfect. The sweet lobster flavor was over the top. When both my husband I finished we found ourselves wishing we’d gotten a bowl!! We plan to make this a yearly stopping spot for us. Keep up the great work

Great views but the food is nothing to write home about. Piano player can be entertaining though.

A secret too good to keep.. My husband is very picky, to the point where we had actually stopped going out to eat for the past three weeks, however, after having an early dinner together there this evening he changed his mind: the food was fresh and inventive, the waitress was delightful and tentative, which all began with a complementary sampling of cheese and wine. My only regret is that we didn’t make it to dessert.

Quality Dining for Any Occasion. The food was fantastic- the new chef at the Fisherman has really boosted their quality of food. We had mussels to die for and delicious fish specials, they were hearty and a brilliant compellation of modern dining and old-world style seafood dining. The waitstaff was reliable and the atmosphere was both family friendly and romantic. Set right on the cove, looking out the windows at the water was the perfect way to spend my dining time.
