I have eaten here twice and have been disappointed both times. The cost is very high, but the service both times was slow. This past time, I had to return my steak 2 times because it was not cooked right. It is a steak house and thus asking for a steak that is pink should not be too hard. The time before that, I was waiting forever for just the bill. The food was okay, but when I am in the area, I tend to go to Cedar’s.
I had to walk out of the restaurant yesterday at Michael Jordan’s-Mohegan Sun because I was so upset at the lack of service. I was seated and waiting for my husband who was delayed at a concert we were attending. I sat there for 15 minutes and no one approached me to take my drink order or even say they would be right with me. To add to the frustration, a couple sitting next to me and who came in after me, were attended to by two waitresses who took the husband’s drink order even though his wife was not there yet. One bus boy who I guess took pity on me gave me some water, but that was the extent of my interaction. I got up and told the hostess I was leaving because of the lack of service and she said did I want to speak to the manager and I said I was beyond mad and left. Not even one star if i could!
Valentine’s Dinner. Made a reso & had dinner with my wife and another couple. We were seated on time, but service was a touch slow. Being a busy holiday, it was understandable. Waiter was friendly & knowledgeable. We started with their garlic bread & blue cheese fondue, very good. Had an Argentinian Malbec that was also pretty good. Ordered 4 steaks and some sides, two bone-in strips & two filet’s with crab. All steaks were cooked perfectly & had great flavor, had mashed potatoes & brussel sprouts which were a little on the plain side (not remarkable). Prices were a little steep, but not out-of-line with top steak houses.
Stay Away`. Worst Steakhouse experience in my 41 years of life. Worst dining experience of 2013. I have been to Michael Jordan’s in the past and always enjoyed my experience tonight was different. Tonight’s occasion was my husband’s birthday. The waitress came by and took our drink orders. I ordered a coppola red zinfadel by the glass. Apparently she did not have very good listening skills or I am not very clear when I speak because she asked me if I wanted white zinfandel. Nobody unless they were raised in a trailer park would ever order white zinfandel especially in a steakhouse where the star should be beef. . Note to waitress reds go with beef, whites go with poultry and white zinfandel can be found at the sunnyside trailer park. We ordered the Porterhouse for 2 one wedge salad asparagus and mac and cheese. The wedge salad I ordered one for myself. When it came out they split it into two and fed half to me and half to my husband. This was completely inappropriate when I ordered the salad because i am on a carbohydrate restricted diet and can only eat meat and vegetables. The mac and cheese was entirely for my husband so he decided against the salad. We waited about 20 minutes for our porterhouse for two after the salads. The porterhouse was ordered medium rare. The steak came out presliced and there was no way it was 34oz may 24oz or 16oz. I am highly insulted they would presclice the meat where I want to see the juices run and slice it myself i am 41 not 4. The steak was also cold and not for being rare. The steak was 75% brown and slightly pink in the middle. The ends were solidly brown. We had ordered a blue cheese butter and the steak was so dry it immediately absorbed the butter. So I asked the waitstaff about the brown piece and he took the plate away. The manager came to our table telling us that it was Michael Jordan’s standard to cook steak in that matter. He offered to send the chef over. Apparently he thinks it is ok for a customer to tell a primadonna chef that he is lousy at his job and does not know the difference between medium rare and cold medium well. He left and my husband finished his mac and cheese where I no longer had a meal to eat, When the bill came they kept the lousy steak on the bill. I called over the manager and asked him why he was charging me for an improperly piece of cooked meat that he took away. He said he could bring the meat back to me. I asked him to cook something more appropriate and correctly. He said he would charge me. I told him that either he provides me with a steak or he takes it off my bill. He came back 5 minutes later with the incompetent chef and my old steak rewarmed so now it was blatantly well done. I asked the chef if he was proud of his work and if he would eat what he put on our table. He said he would. I told him to eat the overcooked piece of meat he put on my table. I proceeded to tell him about the issues with the steak including the dryness. His answer was because the steak was dry aged. I immediately sent him away for such an ignorant statement before i unleashed a fury of insults. I told the manager that either they were going to arrest me for not paying for a bad steak or he was going to take it off the bill. In the end her took it off the bill and lost a once loyal customer. Michael Jordan’s Cafe Mohegan Sun. I am just writing this letter to let you know that I will never go to Michael Jordan’s cafe ever again.I cannot believe how rude and arrogant the staff is. I was so upset when I left the restaurant,I could not even think of eating. I went with my significant other and we waited for over an hour for a table. We were finally seated in front of the bar, just a small railing between the bar and our table. The bar was crowded and many people were standing at the bar. There were four people standingpractically on top of our table. There rear end’s were at face level. Not how I wanted to enjoy my dinner. It was rude and obnoxious. I saw an empty table and said let’s move to that table. The waitercame over and we put in our order and then after that, someone came and said that we would have to move,we could not sit there. It was the way that he said it. It was very rude and embarrassing to say the least. We waited just like the next person did and I guess that we just looked like a couple who would not complainabout a crappy table. Or maybe it was that we did not give the waiter cash to pocket for the better table. It would have made sense if you’d had a wall about half way up to separate the people at the bar.How about one of the managers sitting at one of those tables while it is busy so that they can appreciate how someone would not want to sit there to eat their dinner with someone’s butt in their face.In any case, we were forced to leave the table and I was not about to wait for another hour to be seated somewhere else. This is not the first time we have had a bad experience there. But, I can guarantee it will be the last.I will never go there again.
What a meal!. By far the best place to dine at Mohegan Sun. By far, one of the tastiest joints on the planet. I had the Cowboy bone in Ribeye, medium rare with the sauces on the side. I never touched them. Also had the Garlic Bread fondue, creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, Mac and Cheese, as well as a bottle of Orin Swift The Prisoner 2009. I have had many steaks in my life and this was one of the best. This is a place to dine with your buds. It lacks romantic ambiance. The portions are descent, and this will certainly set you back a hundred or more. For my party you dont want to know then final price!!!I will certainly go to other Micheal Jordan’s but not for a Romantic dinner. 95/100. 98 for food taste 92 for ambiance.
Please have the bread with bleu cheese sauce-always have filet and it’s always great
