This was a birthday dinner. When we arrived, they had made an effort to seat us near the window, which we’d requested. While the tuna appetizer wasLight and flavorful, theMain dishes were uninspired, the wine portion skimpy, and the espresso green tea colored. We sent it back. The carrot cake was mostly hard cream cheese. The wait staff is very nice, but they didn’t pace the dinner well and we got our entrees before we’d had a chance to finish our drinks. The restaurant is new–and the room is beautiful. But it seems they are trying so hard to be hip that they’ve forgotten to be good and reliable.
Nice views, great seafood. Went last night and really loved my dinner and the experience. The hubs loved the spaghetti and veal meatballs, and I just couldn’t get enough of the red snapper. Everything was fresh and we love the open kitchen design. Nice new restaurant!
Great, fresh food in a slick new hotel. Hotel Zero Degrees is now open and inside you can find the brand new hot spot that’s quickly becoming the talk of the town: Mediterraneo. This is the second Mediterraneo in Fairfield County, the first being in Greenwich. Mediterraneo is part of the Z Hospitality Group who owns other well known restaurants such as Aurora, Terra, and Sole. The food here is a bit different than the Greenwich spot, but there are some staples that can be found on both menus. Overall, there’s a focus on fresh seafood, created with care and passion. Some of the highlights that we tasted were a sea bass crudo, chilled cucumber-avocado puree, an amazing cold lobster roll, parmesan crusted halibut, and a lamb chop prepared with zatar. They also have a nice selection of pizzas, too. When you’re there, get a seat by the window and take a gander at the waterfall outback. Yes, a waterfall. Pretty awesome. omnomct.com
