Meh…New to the area, am used to Big W’s in Wingdale NY. Warren there has a dry rub, making sauce absolutely unnecessary. That is NOT the case for Uncle Willy’s. Had the spare ribs.. kinda burned. Kinda tasteless without any sauce. Yes, fell off the bone but not succulent, moist and juicy, kinda crispy and fell off in clumps. Sauce was good.. we tried the 50/50 and the sweet bourbon.Cole slaw WAS good.. nice fresh assortment of cabbage, pepper, and pickle?! which made a nice twist. Collard greens were ok. Husband liked the pulled pork enough to go back again; spare ribs won’t be chosen again, but I will try something new next time.One thing: a barbecue joint that doesn’t smell of a smoker is a little worrisome to me. They reheated the pulled pork on a grill, which I found odd. My only point of reference is a slab o’ meat being taken directly out of a smoker or a holding oven and cut to order in front of you. I think the re-heating thing happened with my ribs, which is why they were so dry.Overall, I’ll give it another shot, because of the husband’s thumbs up to his pulled pork –and the jalopeno mashed potatoes were ‘good’ according to him as well. So I have hope. But I’m pretty sure my ribs were supposed to come with corn bread as well, which was missing. Not a biggie.. but it might be something to watch in the future.Will update this review if we return and find better things on the menu.
