Excellent food. The natural and fresh produce used by the restaurant makes it a must visit to enjoy delicious food. Great thins come at a great cost as the items in the menu are a bit expensive. Food served at the table Duck – delicious – must eat Beef – nice Scallops – can be better Baked oysters – try worthy
We just had an amazing date night and dinner at the Firebox! We searched for something new and different in Hartford and this came up on google. The restaurant has been there since 2007. (I guess we havent been out enough). It is in a bit of a hidden area of Hartford and is a gem. An older building, exposed brick inside, comfortable benches or chairs, plenty of seating, candlelight and interesting architecture. Then you discover a large rear room. They have a large wooden barn style door that can slide over this area for private gatherings or parties and it is very inviting. This restaurant is not for profit and gives back to the local area. I love this! They are a farm to table restaurant and they own a lunch place and workshop in the vicinity. The waitress gave us a nice history and Ill do my best to summarize Locals are able to get trained at the workshop/school and then some who do well work at the restaurant. The Firebox menu is unique with many Interesting foods and combinations. We had the filet dinner and evening special of seafood bake with three different fishes. Excellent veggies, amazing appetizer of Brussels sprouts that you just have to try. Our waitress said these are very popular. The mixed drinks were also very good and with a unique variety offered . We will have to visit again because we were too full for dessert and that menu was equally tempting. A great date night experience and our sweet waitress even brought us some complimentary wine at the end of our meal. A wonderful night and we look forward to returning soon!
