Ordered veggie pad Thai, veggie and tofu green curry, beef satay, pork fried rice and veggie dumplings. The veggie pad Thai had a very mild flavor, mild grease, which I liked and tofu that was sliced into strips. The green curry had a lot of tofu, less veggies and pinapple which I’ve never had with curry but enjoyed, my spouse didn’t. My nephew loved the beef and rice. The rice had a lot of large pork piece which I don’t see often from other places. The veggie dumplings were great but the sauce they came with tasted a little like a chemical. We did take out but not delivery. Order was ready when they said it would be. The place looked nice inside bit very quiet for a Saturday night. Maybe we missed the dinner rush.
Average. I’ve lived in Stamford for nearly 25 years and often drove past the restaurant, wondering if the food was any good. After ordering some takeout dishes I can say that it’s not good, it’s not bad, it’s somewhere in the middle. Tuna maki roll was decent but nothing special, Shrimp Tempura featured ginormous shrimp on a stick (6 for $13) with extra crispy panko crumbs but the batter underneath was bland and mushy. The ubiquitous chicken with broccoli was fine. Chicken with Hot Pepper and Crispy Spinach sounded interesting and the chicken itself was perfectly cooked and tender in a hoisin-style sauce, but it was unexpectedly underseasoned. I expected more heat. The crispy spinach (deep fried leaves) was a chewy mat of green, bland and heavy. It’s not bad, and the menu features Chinese and Japanese dishes with a few random Thai items thrown in. But for my money I would rather go to Kampei.
Best Asian Restaurant in Stamford! Moved from Australia and found many Asian Restaurants were average to bland but really like the food at Blue Ginger! Now if only someone would open a Dim Sum Restaurant we would really have our Asian food needs satisfied!
